you get your cash back either way..
the people who lose out are paypal..then they bring in the police where they get there man.
They have to withdraw the cash to a bank account, from there they have a name, and from that name they have an address. They they find the guy, have them for theft etc..
does it matter??? does it matter??
yes, of course it matters.
do you not think that people set up bank accounts and move along? paypal are not the ones to lose. i have lost money being scammed on ebay and it's not a joke. paypal replied in my instance and said they had tried to recover my money but there were insufficient funds available. thankfully it wasn't anywhere near £183. I couldn't use a credit card as i don't believe in credit, why bother when there's money in the bank.
you are being a little green i think to think that the police always get their man.0 -
Will, I have been through it twice,, the second time was actually only a few weeks ago.
And, as there were no funds on the scammers account paypal said they could do nothing untill there were funds back in the account..
How did you fund paypal account.?
If it was from the bank, they wont help you.?
If it was from a credit card, they will refund it.
If it was from the bank, you will have to file a complain with the financial ombsman (sp?) and, funny enough paypal give you the refund as a 'good will of gesture' as they are scared of losing the license.
If you need any more help, pm me and ill try dig the links out for you.0 -

YES.... it DOES Matter...
1. This person is "Possibly" preying on vulnerable people who are niaive enought to think they will receive a Wii in a few weeks.... the stress they will face from having lost money, having to retrieve it, and then trying to still get another Wii is massive ! ( mine is massive simply trying to get one legit ! )
2. You & I will have to pay one way or the other for this person who will "possibly" pocket £20k, and then blow it all, and pay it back.... perhaps eventually!
3. The Police have enough to do, without the length of enqs this would take.... & especially when a few simple safety checks can avoid it in the first place.
4. I would rather not have my leg chopped off in the first place .. .than have the best surgeon in the world sew it back on !
Take care

Why is the bloke selling Wiis at £183..... RRP @ £180 he would need to sell at ~ £196 just to cover ebay/paypal fees. The answer is because he has no Wii's
On a lighter note I had a knock on the door at 9am this morning:eek:
It was a nice man delivering my 2 Wii's from Amazon:beer:  :j :T0 -
Taken from.... http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=173228&highlight=paypal
1. If your paypal account is supported by your credit card......charge it back on your card. (call your Bank they will send you a form)
2. If your paypal account is charged straight to your bank account or you have used accumulated funds from sales.

Tell them you have been stitched up by Paypal..
They have a guy whos job it is to deal with dodgy paypal deals. I cant remember his name but he is brilliant. Tell him the story and he will give you a reference number.
He will contact paypal and as soon as he does, the clock is ticking for them. They have 4 weeks to deal with your complaint and refund you (they are s----t scared of these people because they have the power to withdraw their credit licence in Europe.)
You will get some waffle about them being right and you being wrong and this is a once only without precedence or prejudice good will jesture, valued customer blah blah blah !!!!!!!!. etc ..and a full refund.
It worked for me twice, and the beauty is, they cant shut your account or cause you any other problems or they are commiting another offence which can end up with the FOS prosecuting them under a differnt part of the act.0 -
The bloke selling Wii's at £183 is heading for trouble anyway.... when you hit a certain amount of money in your paypal account they put a freeze on it.... until you provide certain things.0
