I agree, ebay used to be full of bargins, these days there are alot of geniune sellers but also alot of scammers. The most i would spend on ebay is about £20 because thats the most I am prepared to lose.

Thats why as a seller you use paypal, and ship the item with a tracking number, therefore no come back on the payment.

As a buyer, use paypal, if the seller sells the item and posts it standard parcel post, and it gets lost, does not arrive you can get your cash back.

If your really unsure, they credit paypal through your credit card, then you are covered by the credit card company, and paypal..

Well.... I've done what I believe to be the safest thing..... I MAY be wrong.... but to be on the safe side, I've raised ALL our concerns in an email to Ebay !

Any genuine Ebayer will understand all our concerns...

If you are running a scam... I hope this ruins you !

However, If you are reading this, and you are the genuine seller, then I really do apologise... but I am sure you can appreciate the concerns raised on here, and the need for Ebay to at least look at it before dozens of people become victims, and dozens of kids wonder what happened to Santa !

    Regards

Its good to list 1~10 day auctions at 99p, as the listing fee's are much less.
  • you can only get your money back from paypal if the sellers account has any money - only until the sellers account is credited with enough money, will you automatically be refunded.

Put it this way, I've an item that thankfully only cost £10 from a scammer, and I'm waiting for his account to automatically refund me for about 2 1/2 years now - no chance

Alot of Wii's on ebay start at 99p because the seller knows how sought after they are and that they will go over rrp and most likely double rrp.

Also 99p start auctions will get more people interested than starting at £179.99.

    Everyone loves a bargain.

yes, everyone loves a bargain, but as someone has said on here, if it looks too good to be true......

99p sellers do it to save money on listing fees, simple as that. personally wouldn't buy something as valuable as wii on ebay. it's just not worth the hassle. having said that, i have had my kids their wii's since august and wrapped and hidden. i usually find that if you follow the principal of the 7 p's it usually works better! ;) :A

If he was paid by bank transfer or direct into their bank account then they can just do a runner, but with Paypal it takes 7-9 working days to withdraw funds so they cant really just run.

But if the buyer doesn#t make a claim that nothing has been received within a week or so then they could have the funds and nothing can be done really.

I very much doubt it is genuine but you never know.

Paypal funds usually clear into your account in 5 days,,
Ebay policy only allows a buyer to submit a claim for non recieved goods after 10 days of makeing a purchase. this is to allow the seller time to pack and post and delivery time.

By the time ebay allows you to process a claim 10 days later, the seller will be on his way with the cash as the cash would have cleared way befor the 10 days.

    I have had it happen...

Paypal dont give you nothing if there are no funds in the sellers paypal account..

I would deffinatly stay clear from new ebay sellers.

The guy could withdraw all funds from their paypal account, wait 4-5 days to credit their bank. By the time buyers would question where the wii is and cause complaint, paypal will only try and retrieve the money from the sellers paypal account. If it's empty, they only wait until the account has enough money in it next time. - Basically he could empty his paypal and never return again! I've heard that happen to people in the past - bbc watchdog a couple of times have had similar complaints.

    80 wii's at £180 = £14,400 - very suspect

No, pay through credit card to paypal. Then no parcel arrives, phone credit card company explaining etc, and they shall retract the payment..

No, paypal take the balance back no matter what. Account is put into negative balance, then they send in the debt collection agency for the cash.
