  • This week 66.6 kg, that's - 0.2 kg from a week ago.

When they say 'drop a dress size,, well, I've now dropped to size 14. Hips 39 inches, a long time since I've been able to say that! Now wearing a 38D bra, again, been in the 40+ range for years and years.

I suppose since this is really a way of healthy living I have to get my head around how to manage celebrations and special occasions. Don't want to have a miserable Christmas by constantly thinking about what I eat and drink but also don't want to end up a stone heavier in January. Need to find a balance. Any advice would be welcome

I think Dr Dukan's advice is pretty sensible. At the 3rd phase of his plan, the one I'm on at the moment, you're allowed one celebration meal a week. Over the past few weeks we've been out for a celebration meal, but it has been once a month rather than once a week. October, November and now, we're going out this Saturday night to a pub/restaurant near St Albans. It promises to be a lovely evening with good company among like-minded people, and that's really what a celebration is all about.

Yes, this is a long-term project, it's about your health and a way of life. About mince pies, if anyone around me ate them, I'd make my own. I fancied a mince pie a few days ago when we dropped into the airport cafe for a coffee and saw that they had mince pies. Bit disappointing. There was very little mince in it, mostly pastry, and not as good pastry as I can make. Two dozen mince pies, factory-made? No, definitely not.

    Here's what Dr Dukan advises:
    During the holidays...

Whatever our culture, celebrating is a special time when all of us shut out life's strains, stresses and sorrows.
Celebrations are also a moment of respite!

For all those who are waging a war against weight, the message is not to cloud such precious moments by restricting yourself.
So here is what I have decided for you.
For the special Christmas meal I won't have an aperitif and I insist that you do the same as me. I also won't eat any snacks beforehand like peanuts and similar foods, crackers or savoury biscuits.
This is just the very worst thing you could do.
For your starter eat what is presented. As for the main course you can also eat turkey, capon or fish freely, but anything else should be in moderate quantities.
Dessert will also be whatever is served to you if you have been invited out.
If you are at home you can have a sorbet or some fruit salad or a lovely half mango.

As for drinking, apart from water you may have a round wine glass filled with good red wine or a glass of champagne but only one and not two.

Two very important points, don't eat any bread at the meal and don't serve yourself any second helpings and the following day have only pure proteins with an hour's walk.

We'll be having ribeye steak on Christmas Day and I'll get some fresh fruit for a fruit salad with creme fraiche. We have 2 bottles of wine in the cupboard which we won at a quiz evening a few weeks ago, one is rose, one is white, and we also have some Black Sheep 'Golden Sheep' beer, don't know which of the 3 we'll choose, but it won't be all 3!!

Hi all - After many years of not being at the weight or size I want, I went back to work in September to find my clothes tight and after comments from my mum about losing my waist and not wanting to actually buy new clothes in the next size, I finally got my head in the right frame of mind to lose weight. I think you really have to do that.

I have in the past tried Slimming World twice and I would recommend it. There are good ideas that stick in your mind for years and the support is fantastic. It is much more flexible than Weight Watchers (in my opinion).

However, I started in probably October on my own with a bit of calorie counting which I am surprised how much I enjoyed (saddo) and how shocked I was at how many calories are in stuff so I learned a lot. You can easily find the calories of everything online by googling. After this, when I lost a few pounds, I decided to carry on with the counting but just being a bit aware of what I ate and trying to be very good Monday to Friday and easing up a bit at the weekends. This I have done successfully and have now lost 13 pounds and am nearly a size 12 which I am so chuffed about. It gives me such a buzz that I have done it myself and it stays with me.

My weight watching is mainly down to salads at lunch and a cup a soup. I have lean protein such as ham, beef, or small amount of cheese at the bottom of my salad and then pack it up with kind of "free foods" such as cucumber, tomato, sugar snap peas, beetroot (a super food and fat fighting ingredient) etc. I am getting used to being hungry for part of each day but I do eat breakfast, dinner and tea and I do like wine often too. I just feel that before I must have been eating evey time of was hungry at all and grabbing the wrong stuff. Sometimes I just make a drink in between meals and have started drinking (very weak) Green Tea which is good for diets and fluid intake.

As I said before, you need to get your head in the right place or you are just not motivated enough to carry on.

Keep up the good work everyone and my best tip must be to keep hunger away with more fluid such as fruit/green teas or a cup a soup as long as you have had your 3 meals a day.

Sorry I missed last week I forget how stupidly busy I am at this time of year (I play in a brass band, so carols ahoy!).

Anyway for the last 2 weeks I'm -2lb (loss) and 15 miles.

Now I have to go and grab my antlers for tonights set :rotfl:.

    Hello everyone.

Well an sts for me. Not surprising as I've had 2 meals out and have just been generally lazy when it comes to food. It's sooo hard when your cold not to eat.

On the up side I got back into running this week by starting the couch to 5k programme (again), I did week 2 this morning and will go on to week 3 on Friday. On the inbetween days I (attempt) do bodyrocking, it's a really intense, short workout, that gets the sweat up but helps with toning up. I also go for a quick walk everyday with the mutt, otherwise she makes me feel guilty.:o

So another 7 miles for this week please.

Well done to all the sts'er and the loosers

  • Hi everyone, hope you are all well? Sorry I have been AWOL but you know how it is, life gets in the way, and I didn't realise I hadn't posted on here for nearly 2 weeks.

I have managed to lose -3lbs, although this is over 12 days as I have changed my weigh in day from a friday to a wednesday.

Now I just need to resist all the nice goodies my work mates insist on bringing in.
