Well done Matryoshka :T
I like your advice about following a programme - wondering if it would motivate me to do more?
How fit you feel you have to be to even contemplate starting Insanity?

Eric, DH is Type II, has been since 1981. He's actually getting much better blood glucose results and therefore using less insulin, since I've been doing this, 2 weeks now. Reason: he's eating a lot less carbs, less bread and potatoes, using less insulin, but on Friday he thinks he gave himself a bit too much insulin, hence going 'low', not hypo but nearly so. If we go away again - which we're not planning to until October - I'll make that soup again and take hard-boiled eggs and yogurt.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Give it a go. You don't need to keep up with them. God knows I still can't complete a programme completely without stopping to catch my breath :rotfl:

Still wondering whether to start Turbofire tomorrow or next Monday :think:SECRET TO WINNING PRIZES:

that makes life very complicated
reducing the amount of meds hes taking must be good for his long term prognosis
my friend is close to loosing his feet from prolonged use of insulin0 -

Hi everyone,
Have been reading through this and am finding people's progress etc rather interesting. I've slipped off the wagon lately so am in amjor need of getting my butt into gear and shifting the extra pounds (weighed in yesterday at 10st 13 which I'm not exactly happy about).
Could I possibly be added to the 24 hour and 5lb a month challenges?
Hoping i can get some inspiration from all of you too£2012 in 2012 challenge: £915.28/£2012

Can I ask is anyone else in this thread doing pure calorie counting? I am, plus upping my exercise. I am interested in other peoples experiences.
I am very rigid about my rules and I wondered what sort of flexibility is there in calorie counting that wont undermine weight loss
i.e.
Expending extra calories eaten in exercise.
Are there zero calorie foods?
Fruit/Veg are there any all you can eat options? (I realise not literally:D)
I currently have a limit of 2000 a day (250 Breakfast, 500 Lunch and 1250 dinner) I usually eat under my dinner allowance because I eat what my DW cooks and I can't be sure the calorie content so I always overestimate to be sure.
I guess I will have to reduce my calories intake as I lose weight as my base energy needs will go down, So far I am losing 2-3 lbs a week, is there any calculation I can do to work this out?
Thanks
Occy
i calorie count but mostly as a means of teaching portion control and tracking my carb intake
if your just calorie counting, its your rules so you can do what you like
calorie free food, that would be air and water
a lot of veg is very low caloried0 -

I'm calorie counting too. Sometimes I'll go over target one day, but will try and rein it in the next day to compensate. I may also do a bit of exercise to get things back on track. It's up to you really, I think you can be a bit flexible with it when you are calorie counting, as you can always make up for it later (either cutting the food back or exercising - doesn't matter which one).
As for zero calorie foods, there aren't any! They will all have at least a few cals, although some have hardly any (mostly salad and veg)
I did hear that celery was a negative calorie food though - apparently it's hard to digest, so you will burn more calories eating and digesting it than there are actually in it. No idea if that's true or not, but didn't look into it further as I detest celery!Eric_Pisch wrote: »my friend is close to loosing his feet from prolonged use of insulin
That is so sad.Things like that really worry me, DS1's nurse has told me that as he was so young when he got it, he could experience complications like that as soon as his early twenties  It is more to do with poor blood sugar control than the insulin though, so there is the hope that he will be fine if I can keep a good control of his sugars.
And anyway, he's going to be a scientist when he grows up and will cure diabetes, so we won't have to worry about it for much longer...Eric_Pisch wrote: »a couple of different GPs told me this
Ok, thanks. I'll try and look it up later0
