"Please check your change as discrepancies cannot be dealt with later" etc Does this not work both ways?
If the OP had found out he was short once back at the office would the PO have been quick to give him the missing money?
At my Post Office whenever a customer complains that they've received the wrong cash we'll take their details and call them at the end of the day to tell them if we found the discrepancy in the till. If it's quiet we might even check it there and then for them.0 -
Believe me, I am sorely tempted. Especially as he didn't have the guts to bring the money in himself and we therefore didn't then get the opportunity to tell him what a repugnant and nasty little so and so we think he is.
I guess we are just counting ourselves lucky to get the money back!!!
Are we sure this 'office lady' even exists? Sounds to me a bit like a quickly thought-out excuse to try and cover up his lies0 -

I don't believe for a minute, even if he has an "office lady" she stole the cash. In fact, before letting the OP know that we had seen this thread, my hubby suggested to him over and over again that possibly the "office lady" took it, to provide him with an opportunity to dig himself out of the hole he had made for himself.
Needless to say, he only took my hubby up on this when he knew the game was completely up.
If the "office lady" had existed, I am sure the title of this thread would have read "My Swindling Narsisstic Idiot of a Boss gave me too much money"Tayyibah0 -
Kamray I would suggest saving a copy of this thread and reporting the matter to the police.0

To be honest I do feel that the OP does deserve a visit from the boys in blue for what he has done. At the end of the day, he only handed over the money when he had no other choice but to, was not man enough to admit what he had done or bring the money back himself and hasn't had the decency to apologise for his behaviour. And to top things off, when the money was returned it was £10 short (most probably a deliberate mistake).
However I am not sure what crime he has committed if any under the circumstances given that the money was returned (allbeit £10 short) and as such wether the police would be at all interested??? :think:Tayyibah0 -
One thing not picked up by anybody on post #17 (I think)
Why would a BANK ring up a POST OFFICE to ask if they would cash for a customer?
It just would not happen would it? The bank would cash the money for them or have I missed something.
IMO the whole thread is a wind up.0 -

Well it's also a coincidence that the customer and the post office owners posted on the same thread (what are the chances of the post oiffice owner finding it and it also referring to them).
Having said that, the post office owners (KAMRAY) have been MSE members for a few years, since July 2004.
Maybe the account has been hijacked?
Very fishy, and I'm not referring to the contents of Baldrick's apple crumble ....0 -
I would name and shame the thieving git. But then, I'm that sort of person, you know, the sort that if they are diddled by a local business, will then tell everyone I know to steer clear of them.Never Knowingly Understood.
