Pleased for you Kambray.
I was going to post something as my husband and I used to own a Post Office, but you basically said it all0 -
Give the money to me, I will take it back to the post office for you. Honest. :A0

If the businessman shows his face in the branch again I trust his withdrawal will be £10 short.
OP just received what's on the receipt, right?
Only if he's stupid enough not to count the money he receives from the teller in front of him before accepting it...
Obviously with CCTV footage OP had no choice but to hand the cash back. Lucky that the post office had that footage!
In this story the cashier should have been sacked, though.0 -

I don't see why they should be sacked. If you are doing that day in, day out you are bound to make the odd mistake - and I'd imagine after this ordeal they will be incredibly vigilant from now on, more so than anyone who would be replacing them.
A similar thing happened to me when I collected foreign currency at the airport. Despite me telling them 4 separate times that I still needed to pay for it, I was handed the money and told "good bye, have a nice day". I did end up insisting I paid before I left (though it was incredibly tempting to just walk off - after all, I had tried to pay for it!) which was just responded with little more than grunting and taking the money out of my hand. I know it still would have been wrong to take the money, but not even a "thanks" at making sure her till didn't have £400 odd missing made me pretty angry - particularly as I had been up all day and night at that point!0 -

I don't know if that's honesty or plain cluelessness...0 -

Why would it be cluelessness? I knew full well what was happening and what I had/hadn't paid.0 -
Have you enquired whether he reported his "office lady's" crime to the police? If not perhaps you should do so on his behalf.
Believe me, I am sorely tempted. Especially as he didn't have the guts to bring the money in himself and we therefore didn't then get the opportunity to tell him what a repugnant and nasty little so and so we think he is.
I guess we are just counting ourselves lucky to get the money back!!!Tayyibah0 -
