I have lived in small bedsits but I couldn't again... sorry but I would slit my wrists if I had to do it again!!!!
but you do not have much choice , surely it would be better to live there whilst you sort out some new employment then to stay where you are and end up struggling to pay your rent

I've said repeatedly that I'm looking for anything... as I have 25 year work history AND worked from the age of 6 years old!!!! (have you?) so I have done most work... why do people always assume that being out of work (well I'm working part time at the moment) for a couple of weeks means I'm fussy or knitpicking!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?

Because you said in your first post that you were looking for jobs related to your experience and qualifications Wig...
plus I am also applying for anything else I can find that links with my experience but no joy so far!! (I have a database of the jobs applied to so far and it's nearing 100 - not counting freelance/temp job agencies)

Of course I have a choice!!

live on £20 a week for a short while until I get more work (I've only just gone on the dole... well, this wednesday) rather than throw my belongings in the bin (which I payed for with my earned money! nothing of it was free), lose all faith in myself and become depressed (as well as more loans to pay the deposit/rent/moving costs to live in a cupboard) for the sake of a short time on benefits... last time I signed on which was the last recession (1993) lasted one month.

I've paid for myself for 25 years (officially... actually a lot longer) worked since 6 years old and then say I need to be punished and live in a cupboard just because I'm short on benefits... yet if I was some dodgy fraudster who stole/cheated/theived you wouldn't tell them to do this? seriously? I bet you wouldn't do that yourself!!!

that sort of bedsit is fine if you are young and it's a for short time... been there done it.. .not doing it anymore and I'm not going to apologise for having standards... and why some people want me to destroy my life for -£30 on their benefits (WHICH IS FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME)

useful info only please? not a total judgement of my life... I've never stolen/cheated anyone/committed fraud/been nasty to anyone in my life (and I do actually mean that... I don't say one thing and then do another which is what most people do) but so far (not everyone on here thankfully) I'm considered toffy nose scum who thinks they're posh... I would't live in a room in south london if that was true and frankly I wouldn't other asking for info cos I'd be too busy ripping people off and not caring what others thought?!!?!?!?

what I actually said: "I am more than qualified plus I am also applying for anything else I can find that links with my experience but no joy so far!"
it has to link otherwise I'd be committing fraud and I'm not going to work as a business consultant job when I have no idea how to do that... sorry for being an honest type person.

try reading the other posts... and what is wrong with working in my field which consist of skills that cover a very large area! I even have 3 CV's!

and it's your choice to make a snap judgement ... if in doubt you can always ask a questions and check first.

Sorry if I misunderstood. Your current living situation sounds so horrible that I honestly thought the bedsit would be a better option.
You probably won't like this suggestion but would one of your friends allow you to stay with them while you find your feet again?
Would your JSA be enough to cover the cost of a small self storage space so you don't need to get rid of your stuff and allow you to chip in for food at your friend's?

thank you... but maybe good advice for someone who is living way over their means with no future or young or already in huge debt and being made homeless... which I'm none of those.

I've not even started benefits yet so I'm hardly at the point of desperate and I'd be a fool to make myself homeless.

My place isn't that bad, I wan't brought up with high standards...:p I just don't understand others who steal and can't clean up after themselves so it's annoying... I just don't cook at this place but better than cooking on a baby belling next to a single bed and not even having my own belongings around me... I've also shared for so long and would like to have a proper 'home' at some point.. one bed flat/studio would do that I could settle in, decorate and live there for years... not now obviously... but it's a dream that apparently I shouldn't have or hope for... I only deserve a cupboard despite all my hard work over the years. (I know it's nothing to do with deserving but I can't believe I'm being moaned at because I live in a room! hardly flippin luxuary is it?)

I just wondered what others do to cover their rent ... I'm sure I'm not the only person going on or, already on benefits that lives in a room... what do people in houses or flats do if the limit is £85... in the whole of the south you will be hard pressed to find a flat/house for that so are they all out getting cash in hand jobs? or making themselves homeless?

I finally succume to the recession (the 2nd one I've been through) and I have to abandon my home/belongings/friends/hope and any self esteem that I have left over a short fall of £30 which I can take out of the jobseekers so I live on £20 a week... is that what people expect of others... have they themsevles destroyed their life over a small shortfall in temporary benefits? I would never say this to someone...

this isn't aimed at the person I've just replied too... this is for any people that want me to become homeless/throw my life away for no reason except I'm low on work for awhile!

I was feeling fine and happily applying for more jobs but I now feel seriously sick and going onto forums to ask for help ... well... you have to justify your entire existence just for a question?

totally depressed so I'm having a break from this forum and going to lie down.

but thank you to the folk that have been helpful and not so drastically judgemental!

ironically it seems that I should move into a flat as I would have more chance of that being paid and I my standards of living would go up:

'It's possible to receive weekly amounts of, up to £250 for a one bed property, £290 for a two bed, £340 for a three bed and £400 for four or more beds.'
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/benefits-check?utm_source=forum&utm_medium=clicks&utm_campaign=resourcebar

so my being careful and purposely living cheaply is wrong... no wonder so many people want me punished!

You wouldn't have to share if you lived here! You could keep it as tidy as you like and there's a handy worktop for you to make your sandwiches on...

I'd rather commit a crime and get banged up, I'm sure a prison cell would be bigger!

Which London Borough are you in? The shared accom LHA rate for Hanmersmith and Fulham is £123.50; central London may be even more.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
