£20 to share a bed is reasonably cheap lol you wouldn't get a prostitute for that much lol

Depends on who you're sharing the bed with - if their minging maybe you could negotiate a payment, could solve the minus £30 pw thing!

yes they don't pay the whole amount... I'm £30 under my rent. - I do not live in luxury... it's the cheapest place I could find that wasn't on a crack estate - I have had gun fights outside my window though!!!

Is this a recent change since the condems came in or has it always been like this?

You should be able to get travel paid to interviews, although it may only apply when the interview is a certain distance away. But may help you in some situations - I'd check it out

I'll probably walk to interviews... even if I have to trek one side of london and back...if I'm not working then I don't mind hiking around to get out and about.

I've heard of this before but you have to apply afterwards with travel tickets and it takes weeks to come through... weird! I've known people who couldn't afford to go to interviews!

dont' know.. .it's been a long time since I've applied and then I got a job a week later and cancelled it.

I think there's always been a limit depending on what type of house you live in... I do know people who get their rent paid on entire flats...??? this was a few years ago and I don't know them now.

When I needed to travel for an interview they gave me a voucher for a travel pass, I didn't have to pay beforehand

I dunno, I do tend to agree with the up sticks and try somewhere else idea.
I'd much rather be unemployed by a nice beach with scenery than in London.
Toss for it, heads you stay, tails you move. You've got nothing to lose by giving it a go :)

tried that and I lived in Brighton for a while and Swindon (wanted Oxford but no car so live in swindon as it was close...!) but no work either... I'd rather work as I'm i can't stand sitting around doing nothing (I can do plenty of that in my own time lol!) and commuting into london costs a huge amount of money... it's actually cheaper to live in london and walk everywhere... I've done the maths! rent is similar elsewhere and enter the extra travel into it and it costs more so might as well live in london...

I would love to move to bristol area but no jobs come up in searches and the rent is similar so no point moving! (I can't afford to move either... if I could I would bother going on jobseekers!)

maybe it's changed then... I'll keep it in mind if I get an interview that requires a lot of travel and can't walk to it (who wants to be all sweaty in an interview!! ;))

lol.. I am currently trying to think of ways the cat can earn her keep (she's a stray that moved in) and whilst she has kept the mice from coming back in, she has been known to run away from large spiders! pft! useless.
