Ooooh Sunflower how exciting re secret squirrel VIP lady! Positive vibes to Souk for your interview today.

Sorry Crickett, I forgot to say well done on your weight loss - you'll be proudly posting the pics of you in your fab Monsoon dress before you know it!

I'm excited today - my car's on its way back so fingers crossed that the adaptations will work for me and it won't need to be taken away for further adjustments. I am so looking forward to regaining some independence.

OH has arrived to help with a few jobs only to find that I have started several decluttering projects and not finished them. The place is a mess :o!

Yay to car adaptations and independence Oceanspirit

Well after all my shenanigans (as my nana would say) this week, things are still managing to move forward in my summer holiday tasks.

Task 1 - shelves have been sanded, primed, glossed and put up.

Task 2 - remember my very own MSE table and chair that will become my office / craft central, well that has now been sanded, primed and glossed. I did buy some special paint to go for the shabby chic look - oops, wot an absolute mess that turned into  - so decided to go with the tried and tested painter and decorator look rather than the Colin and Justin interior designer look :rotfl:.

Task 3 - the porch. Well two coats on the ceiling - done and the skirting boards has been sanded and primed just ready to be glossed as soon as I have finished my cup of tea. Just the walls to paint next week and I will be half way through my tasks :T.

Boo to the weather but it is helping my novice late veggie plot - I have lettuce, beetroot, courgette, swede, cabbage, turnip, carrots and peas all growing :T. The only disaster has been the spring onions, oh and the 3 courgette plants that the slugs ate . Maybe we will be tucking into our own veg this Autumn - exciting stuff :D.

Hope you are all having a good Friday, love to all Thriftyxxx
  • Morning Matrix. Thank you all for the congratulations on the weight loss... I can't really believe it myself at the moment!

I went to Mr tesco last night in order to get a Chinese "fakeaway" for hubby and I to revel in. We had both had a crappy day and neither of us felt like cooking. So, we had Mr om's best spicy beef and chicken sweet and sour, and it was lush. Whilst there, I happened to find three rather nice summery dresses, all at a 50% off discount. When I got the dresses to the till, there was a further £5 off... so I managed to buy £50 worth of dresses for £21!! :) A very happy lass I was. I am wearing one of them today with a long cardi and a pair of leggings underneath and feel rather lovely in it, I must say! Offi n a few minutes for my counselling session, and then home via the swimming pool (going to try and do 50 lengths today instead of the 42 I managed last time) and once I get home I am going to work for 3 hours to make up the time.

Oh, and I might pop next door to the bunnies and the guines pigs and give them some spare veggies that we have in the fridge! Their Mummy gets home from holiday tomorrow, so it will be the last time I can make a fuss of them really. I have rather taken to the guinea pigs and am very tempted to increase the Rickett menagerie if possible. Have done a costing, and will need to save some money up to get all the things the piglets would need, but I am up for it, definitely! :D Need to persuade hubby though I think! :D

Right, got to make sure I have everything I need for this afternoon's workies from home.

Oh, and another thing... I have discovered ebay is a wonderful place to buy things from to cheer yourself up, because they are cheap!! I have bought a new mousemat for work, and I have put a bid on to a beautiful leather music bag for all of my choir bits and pieces. I hope I win it!! :D

Right, lots of positive vibes to everyone. I am off!! See you on Monday.

  • Yay to cheap dresses Crickett. I bet you look lovely in it !:T

Crickett - when you get your pigs please get them from rescue. Also I don't recommend having two boys together. Either two girls or one (done) boy and one or more girls. They are so lovely and fairly low maintenance (apart from the cage/hutch cleaning).

  • Soup again for lunch up here in dreich and rainy Scotland! I took a hot water bottle to bed last night and was very glad of it, but the heating is staying off! I may be cuddling a HWB this afternoon though - and the cat!

This morning a friend took me to a nearby village (Dr Finlay territory) for a cuppa whilst his car was MOT'd there, and I noticed Julian Graves had 33.3% off everything. So I did the squirrel thing and stocked up for winter. Apparently only 20 shops in Scotland are doing this particular promotion so it was good timing. I limit bread intake, and also make nut milks so I use almonds quite a lot and some packs were near their BB date, and half price - they went through the till with a further 33.3% off, which gladdened my frugal little heart. Nuts have leapt up in price this year, so any reduction is worth having.

Crickett, you're sounding good today. Frugal treats via Ebay definitely a good idea. I did that during the first two years of my treatment, small things I needed, kept my spirits up! Even now, I give myself a wee treat on a week ending in a zero - am in Week 169 so thanks C, you've given me something to look forward to! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

FW, I hope all has gone well and that you're getting well looked after and recovering well. Take it easy whilst you heal.

GL GL GL Souk - looking forward to hearing how you got on with the 2nd interview.

Enjoy your wheels oceanspirit! Vroom vroom

    Afternoon all

Wanted to share a little mind move with you all. Today whilst in the car thinking of a problem I was talking to the hygienist about it came to me to consider inventing a solution. Now obviously this is only a thought but I now realise that I am starting to look for opportunities in so many different areas.

Cricket, congrats on the weight loss and the bargains. Any chance of getting a hutch etc on freecycle?

I did my cutlery drawer this morning and have managed to get new trainers for DS3.
