Sounds nice, but given that it would taste aniseedy, can you just add a bunch of star anise or something if you don't want the black colour?

Anyone tried that? Or adding a vanilla pod to vodka for vanilla vodka?

I did 2 vanilla pods to a jam jar of vodka and made vanilla extract. It is a dark brown colour though - but gorgeous in baking.

Now Black Jack vodka - that sounds nice.....will pass that on

Must admit - I'm seeing that Parma Violets are like marmite - you love them or hate them.

As a wee aside - Tora is growling & barking @ her reflection in the patio door - do I leave her as entertainment for me or let her out as entertainment for her?????

That is so cruel - and so very funny :rotfl:

Finally feel like I'm getting on top of some school work having gone in early and stayed late today. Dh has got a new hoover but failed dismally to take it out of the box or remember how to work the dishwasher but did manage to get mr KFC to feed the kids lunch - he seriously doesn't get the whole money saving idea does he?!

Have decided that positivity shall remain and I will not nag, will just get on with it and shuffle money away from him while he isn't looking:p We did do the envelopes thing for a while and I thought it worked well but dh moaned that the clients he works with have their money in envelopes and it made him feel like he was a client.

Mum just phoned to say she has ordered a kitchen from a guy out of the paper. £100 deposit on Friday. Thing is the name rang a bell "Martin Sersen" - 10 minutes on Google and OMG!!!! Scam, Watchdog the full whammy.

These guys wanted cash on delivery!!!! For a kitchen in boxes - not on my shift matey!!!!!

So Mum is off to bank in the morning to try and stop the cheque - hope she can. I'm thinking that it could at the earliest have been presented this morning so I hope she is in time.

Now to speak nicely to someone with a Trade Account and price up another kitchen for her.

Bleeding Scam artists - picking on pensioners.

  • MG: Hope it all gets sorted for you mum, but I think you are right about the cheque not being able to be cashed in time.

Am back from college. I have GOT to have my script written for next Monday evening. You guys had better ask me every time you see me, and if I'm not making sufficient progress, kick ma bahookie (See? Parilamo Glasgow! :D)
  • Hope your Mum can stop her check in time - good catch MG.

Anyhoo... I seem to remember a while back you were knitting a gorgeous scarf that was green and had a large button on the shoulder - you couldn't by any chance repost the picture / link to the pattern. I have tried searching but didn't have any joy. Ta muchly.

Looks in present box - got a cranberry coloured neck wrap scarf and a standard shape green glittery one. The one on the pins is purple, but its a neck wrap and matching mitts thingie. Nothing green I'm afraid - tell us more and someone may recognise it.

Now I have a mug of coffee and a message from MrF to sort through to finish- something for a Tag Cloud - so back later.
