Eeeeeh I'm more useless than a useless thing today - I'm up, dressed and the beds are made. Need to get the dishes done, the laundry sorted and the veggies peeled for tea or, you know what, I may just go back to bed and be poorly..... pah to it - I'd be  if I had the energy.
Normal service will be resumed asap.0 -

Keep going: statistics is fun once you loose your fear and learn the basics.

Hey FW
Nope, no rules at all. I agree with you - it's good to know the quant stuff too. I feel like I won't get a proper education without knowing at least the basics. So I have signed myself up for two quant courses this year. Eeep my maths brain is seriously rusty though!
In my area the IT for development people are starting to develop some interesting 'mixed methods'. I'd really like to be able to keep up. It's all an investment I guess. I am working hard to erase those mantras from school - "I can't do maths" etc.

It is cold and dark here..I hates the clocks going back.
In other news, I am feeling pretty pleased with myself because I have managed to wangle a 1:1 appointment with the head of sports & events for Birmingham City Council. I have been trying to get an appointment for ages and now I have my chance on Thursday morning at the FindItInBirmingham breakfast event (must be up at 5am and out of flat at 6am). It is a breakfast event and I have premium membership which cost me £50 but for that I get a spot on their website and I can go to all breakfast meets instead of having to pay £12 a time. The meeting on Thursday is all about events for the Olympics but really they are looking for building and technical bods and I am not any of those but I don't see why a freelance event organiser can't muscle in and pick up some work:D
Tonight's dinner has defrosted (pulled out two stuck together chicken breasts) one will be roasted in Mosky to have with chips and the other will be sliced and cooked in the slow cooker tomorrow to make a casserole (clever me managed to save some of the chopped onion on Saturday so I don't need to go out and buy new - nor do I need to buy a tin of Eazy Onions).0 -
Tonight's party is brought to you courtesy of AF.
Dead Fly Scones - Scone mix and currants
Leaky blood muffins - muffin mix and blueberries
Bat Biscuits - chocolate mix biscuits
Witch Biscuits - just a different shape
Pancakes - because they were requested!!!
Pizza - pizza base mix
Popcorn - actually I don't think his was AF
Toffee Apples -
.................... and a seriously spooky pumpkin - pretty good job. Total cost - Zip!!! everything from stores - apart from Pumpkin it was scrounged from an allotmenteer mate and needs to be turned into soup and returned to his freezer in the morning.
Have fun - I'm just about to light the candles

You could try and buy the real stuff (Creme Yvette) if you want to make authentic French Martini but it is a real specialist booze and you are not likely to find it in the Supermarkets.
Why not buy two rolls - eat one and dissolve one? They are not that expensive.
You can also do this with skittles and werthers original BTW
MG
Do you have to crush them up? That would make the vodka very bitty: I know with the skittles stuf you just turn it upside down every so often and it's ok.
Just a thought.0 -
Eww to parma violets - wouldn't you strain the vodka anyway after adding stuff like sweets? I know that I have to strain the sloes out of mine.0

Now Black Jack vodka - that sounds nice.....will pass that on
Must admit - I'm seeing that Parma Violets are like marmite - you love them or hate them.
As a wee aside - Tora is growling & barking @ her reflection in the patio door - do I leave her as entertainment for me or let her out as entertainment for her?????

Sounds nice, but given that it would taste aniseedy, can you just add a bunch of star anise or something if you don't want the black colour?
Anyone tried that? Or adding a vanilla pod to vodka for vanilla vodka?0 -
I'm off to college. It's been two weeks and I haven't done my homework.
