TMIF: that's a serously cool sock. How long did it take to learn to do that?
I've finished Ebay listings for the day. They are not finished - someone on this forum sneakily figured that you can list the items and add the pictures later so it doesn't cost you tomorrow (I still need to add lots of description as well: why does Ebaying take so much TIME?!). However, on the very, very, extremely off chance that all my items (mainly pretty dresses) sell, I will be over £1500 better off. Minus Ebay fees.
There's no way on God's green that all those dresses are going to sell, so if I only get rid of one or two, it would be nice. I don't want to get rid of them all, to be honest, as I want to wear some of the ones I have yet to wear, but heck, I need the space. And the cash would be good, too!
So on to tomorrow: finish Ebay listings, update CV (should have happened today, but hey-ho), contact agencies, sign on *gulp* I don't think I can bring myself to do this, but I may just have to.
On the up side, I have work experience for my college course all sewn up, so that's good, as I was starting to worry a little, and that reminds me, I have to ring them up and see if I can pay the last 2 fee instalments out of the wages I will be paid tomorrow. Anyone know if I can get the government to cover them for me now I am unemployed?!:rotfl:

A real Autumn morning up here - although quite warm (sitting at 16) and the boys will be up soon so the day will begin in earnest.
Need to nip out to the bank this morning as I am experimenting with the "envelope" way of budgeting for MFi3. The theory being that anything left over every week gets shuffled into the emergency fund. I do know it will only be a few pound per week but that is better than nothing. Perhaps not he best week to start as all the DD's are due out but there is enough to cover them so should be fine.

My "envelope" system starts tomorrow, I have done it mentally but not physically before, looking forward to comparing notes MG. Mind I only have myself to cater for, you have your two to factor in.
Love the sock TMIF - which yarn did you use? And were you on double pointed needles or circular? Once I've done what I have now - which is enough for 3 jumpers - one each for my daughters and one for me - and will take me aaaages, I would love to try socks but I remember the dpn's as being a fiddle and I wonder if circular needles are less cumbersome - logic tells me they should be. No swopping needles every few stitches...
I took advantage of waking up early to get up early - body thinks it's an hour later than it actually is - this lasts for a few days each Autmn and it gives me a head start on the housework. Have spiffed up the kitchen already.
Time to head off to work soon. Have a brilliant day everyone! If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

It works! I have been experimenting with this one for couple of months now. And my big jar is growing (you should have seen me wrapping five pence coins in paper during the weekend, though; let's just say that Jo Brand is nothing compared to what I was like in all aspects - laughs, swearing etc.).
Apparently the trick is to have your expenditure down to coins - it is a psychological trick where people spend coins but keep notes (and one pound coins). In our case, even the fact that we see how much cash is left for different things is helpful.
Have a good week all!

FW - were you wrapping them into tubes?
I love working on a cash only basis, its so much easier to manage. Work out your shopping list, a rough idea of what it should cost and you're away. Anything left gets chucked in the 'spare money' jar, decisions to be taken at a later date about what to do with it.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Groatie - I do socks for the littlies (DS1 is in love with his cosy toes) - Go here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVXL!!!L8LM
First of half a dozen tutorials that takes you through using a circular needle. I prefer socks this way as I can shove them in my handbag to do at random moments and never lose the dpn's. Mens that over the year a whole winters worth of socks "magically" appear.

The socks were really simple. No seams except at the toe. The heel bit is a bit confuddling and I am pretty sure I didn't do it right, but as it looks fine I don't care
I will try and scan in the pattern
Remind me if I forget.
I used 5 double endersIt wasn't that much slower than normal knitting, and it's all plain! Whoop! The only fiddly bit is the first 2 or 3 goes round, where you have to pull really tight to make sure there isn't a gap at the join point.
I can't remember where I got the wool from, it's called Regia. It's expensive if you get it in a normal shop (£4-5), but I think it was £1 on fleabay. Not 100% sure though.0
