Have just had one of those mornings which make you want to type up your resignation letter and just hand it in and your superiors and tell them all to go forth and multiply in as many imaginative ways as they can possibly imagine. On the upside, it has redoubled my motivation to get the Portfolio rewrites done and in so that I can get my letters and get out of here as soon as humanly possible!!
Off to have lunch, a read of something gentle on my Kindle and then back to rewriting again."A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -

And Clairewop can make you the necklace... where is Claire, incidentally? Hope she is okay!"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
oops, cross-posted with Crickett. Hugs Crickett, hope the day will get better for you as it goes on, maybe a nice walk outside at lunchtime will help?0

Just had to laugh - tried applying for a 36hr job at Asda in Pershore - I started completing their awful online form and I kept being asked which shool I was attending..I left school in 1979! I could not progress further with the form, it was then that I noticed that although the job was for 36hrs a week, it was in fact a work placement for a 16 year old (although I know that 16 year olds are not allowed to work 36hr weeks).
I have noted down 6 department store websites that I have visited today to try and get a job on my evidence sheet for the jobcentre - they cannot say I am not trying.
Thinking of frugaliciousness - did anyone see Gok Wan on tv last night? It was a fab programme - he was looking at clothes on a budget so he had two budgets one for clothes for £250 and the other for £50. He got normal shaped women trying out jumpsuits and put them in a wind tunnel (Airkix) and filmed them to see if they bunched up, sagged or if boobies fell out. It was quite comical. He also did a catwalk show but folks seemed to go for the most expensive range yet I thought that the mac that he showed that was £49.99 was much nicer than the dearer version. I don't need a mac, I have my lime green trenchcoat that I bought in Fenn Wright & Manson's sale last year (I never paid full price for their stuff - I always bought it in the sale). I know lime green is in an your face colour but I get so many comments saying what a wonderful colour it is especially on a gloomy day.
Mary Portas's programme afterwards was hilarious too - there was one poor sales woman who didnt grasp that Mary was about trendy clothes for the over 40s and kept producing a fascinator to wear saying that women loved them..er..no..I wouldn't be seen dead in a fascinator. Mind you, she said she was offering affordable clothes but I don't think that £99 for a shirt is affordable.:eek:0 -

Right! You know me well enough to know that this is a perfect opening for me (The self-styled Boot) and I can't resist a test.
So....

This week I got to the "F*** it" stage with the house and gave myself a good talking to. There is no Prince Charming coming with a nail gun so I had better do it for myself - also as Greenbee says I worked out the opportuity cost of NOT having the rooms ready for letting OMG!!!!

So the "£10 sofa challenge" is about doing something different to shift my mindset ...................... its not strictly necessary for our day to day living - but the beauty it creates will lift my spirits and make my heart soar. I deserve to have lovely things around me - especially if I can get creative and think around the corners.
So as I begin to see opportunities to Make Do and Mend - the Universe sends me more opportunities IYSWIM.
I'm waffling now I'm sure - but having fun being "stitchy" for a while trying to figure out how to do this sofa monster - but this girl does love a challenge.
MG
I find exactly the same thing! After I first PM'd MG about how to start which was ages ago, I have been much more positive. I love a challenge also and like nothing more than to make my home comfortable, cosy and our sanctuary especially for as little ££££'s as possible.
I work for a posh lady where money is no object and they spend it like it's going out of fashion YET I know who has the better quality of life.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Debt at start of DMP 1/6/09: £2942 - £1942

Marru - I have a stack (32 plates) of unused paper plates suitable for a 7 year old girly party, you are welcome to have them.
It isnt it amazing how nice things happen when you least expect it? I had a text message from my hairdresser this afternoon telling me that he had landed a fab job at the new Adee Phelan salon in The Cube in Birmingham. I followed my hairdresser from Umbertos to Lisa Shepherd (it would cost me £105 to have my hair cut and coloured:eek:) and now he is moving again, I texted him back wishing him well and that I couldnt afford to have my hair done as I am waiting for my dole money. He has sent a text back saying that I can have 50% off when I am back on my feet which will mean me paying about £50 or so which will be worth it as I need a darn good cut and my colour has faded and the grey is showing:( I certainly wasn't expecting him to offer me a 50% discount..that has made my day.
Hope everyone is having a fabby day and if you are working for a horrid boss then you have my sympathies. I used to have a powerpoint presentation which was very peaceful and restful - then it got to the part where it said imagine me holding your head under the water as I drown you:eek::rotfl: It was a great stress reliever:rotfl:0 -
Morning everyone,
Had lots of eggs to use up so have had a productive morning making mini xmas cakes i found on a thread on here, a victoria sponge for ds girlfriends birthday, bread, foraged some blackberries so made a crumble, made carrot soup and have a chicken stew in the slow cooker for dinner. All from stuff already in the house:j but will need icing sugar to make the buttercream for the cake so not a NSD today.
Now a bit pooped so having a quick coffee before I pop to Mr M to get a few bits ad milk, then may have a couple more NSD this week.
