Couldn't agree more and once you have grasped this you find out who your real friends are!

:wave:and here we all are hon :wave:

Chomped my sofa frog for the day - so off to make pancakes stuffed with spinach and cottage cheese topped with tomato sauce - with broccoli and green beans - and a french apple pie with some of Clooties windfalls (although for windfalls they are in great condition so I have snuck one into the lunch box this morning)

  • Hi Matrix!

I have spent most of today rewriting the bits of my portfolio that need to resubmitted. I am not enjoying it very much, but I am trying my hardest to get it right so I can pass and get my letters finally! We have heard nothing from the estate agent or the bloke who came to see the house. Sigh. I think that particular fish has got away. :(

Right, time for me to pack up for the day and go home to clean and tidy up. And then collapse onto the sofa and probably fall asleep! :)

    See you all tomorrow.

Horace, as you are unemployed and renting, have you claimed housing benefit from your local council?

I have had to reapply - they were only paying me £415.40 towards it anyway and I have to find the rest, I get full council tax benefit. Council now has me down as having nil income so I may just get more money. I am just astounded as to how far I have fallen really from being relatively able to cover my bills to not in such a short space of time. Still, what is done can be fixed - I can confirm that tesco value choccie digestives are divine - mind they are the first biscuits I have eaten in 3 months. I shall put them in the fridge out of sight so I am not tempted to scoff them all at once.

Today, I applied for a job in a Waitrose supermarket (not ideal but good if I can get it because I become a partner and they get fab profit share bonuses). Someone rang me up about LinkedIn courses - he invited me to one that he is running and then said he would charge me £75 for it so I said that I didnt have 75p let alone £75. What he has done though is told me what to charge for mine when I set them up:rotfl:

I had a look at the sewing cafe that has opened near me - she charges £5 an hour for use of the machines but if you book more than an hour the price comes down. I know I can't afford this at the moment but it is something I would consider for the future.

£500 for a birthday celebration seems excessive almost as bad as when my best chum got married and wanted me to go at a cost of £1500 plus £95 for flights - the £1500 was for 3 nights in the hotel *eek* needless to say I declined but lent her my white gold and sapphire earrings as her something blue which she never wore (it took me months to get them back off her too!).

Last night of honeymoon - all good things must come to an end. Glad and also gutted to be coming home. Hope the cat will not be too cross with us!!

MG it's so nice to think back to the older threads. You have done amazing things throughout

This time last year I was just starting studies in Uganda. What a hard, but thrilling year it has been.

Sorry, very little free time this week but spotted Horace on the subject of yeast - the bakery counter in Tesco Leicester Beaumont Leys give me some (25g) free if I ask. If they charge you then you can always dump it in the fridges before the tills.

Hex - I cannot ask at our Tesco because the bakery section doesnt have bakers on it but I can ask at Sainsbugs as their bread counter is more user friendly.

Tomorrow is another day - a day of jobhunting and making do.

Remember how scared you were about striking off on your own to your research? - we were such proud Aunties the day you got on the plane :D

I have come such a long way in the last two years - from scrabbling for pennies to quite a comfortable (if frugal) way of living.

Can't believe I am making a "designer" sofa - and even better I feel like I am worth it.

Yayyyy!!!! fro all things Matrixy :T:T:T
