Very rainy here and incredibly dull, I've had to put the kitchen light on to see!

My mum rang me yesterday to tell me about some courses the local school are running and one of them is cake decorating :) Its £80 for 10 weeks and a 2 hours lesson. Now I know my mum is considering going to learn hopefully some new techniques but I am sort of hoping it might lead to a minor income on the side (in addtion to improving technique). I have come to the conclusion that if I was ever to stop childminding I doubt one particular area of my interests would ever generate enough income to pay a wage BUT I am coming around the idea to having a number of fingers in several pies. Or possibly cutting back on the CMing (rather than ditching completely) allowing me more time to expand in other areas. Anyway we'll have to see what develops but it's definately giving me food for thought.

Hope you're all having a good weekend. Positive vibes for all xx

The problem is my lot are fussy and won't eat lentils etc. so I am stuck

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

WE don't just eat lentils hon - we eat loads of cheap lunches too. DS1's menu for next week is:

HM Wholemeal roll with filing (usually a bit of what we have for Sunday dinner), Apple, muffin for snack,

Pasta with tomato sauce, salad bowl, banana bread for snack.

Pancake wraps, carrot and turnip sticks, piece of gingerbread.

Indian dal, rice, chaptti and steamed broccoli. Banana and nectarine (if they are ripe by then). Flapjack for snack.

HM Pitta bread, hummus, carrot, turnip and pepper sticks. Weetabix cake. Apple and nectarine.

A the beginning of each term i make a freezer box full of snacks to pluck fromthe freezer in the morning and bung in his box.

Fairly high in starchy stuff as he is in the middle of a growth spurt and has "hollow-legs" at the moment.

Or................Let the boys know that there is ONLY the food in the house to eat from till Thursday and ask them to come up with their suggestions.

    Morning all

Struggling with life a bit at the moment, need a good cry and a chat with one of my bessies so looking forward to kids going back to school and meeting up with one for a cuppa. It is hard when you thought you was doing what was good for many years and then it comes and bites you on the provervbial.

For now though I need to take DS3 to find new cheap trainers for his PE bag and he has a party later. I want to all get all the stuff off my desk and onto the floor too so that tomorrow I can start a week of financial and paperwork tasks with a clear desk on which to work. Some time in the garden is a must too.

I know from the minimum calc on here that my Barclaycard will take 35 years and 10 months to pay back and I will pay £13,575 in interest if I only pay minimum payments.

But my Halifax is still on the old rate of calculating minimum payment so I have to cover the interest and charges plus £5 every month so my debt literally reduces at £5 every month and according to my calculations it will take about 37 years to pay back  but I am not sure what the total interest will be.

I have about £850 being paid back at 6.95% and £1371.78 being paid back at 17.95% so although the interest is lower it will take longer to pay back so should I make my PAD's to Halifax or Barclaycard?

    Thanks

What are the charges you mentioned? You would need to add these into the interest you pay and this way get the new percentage. If the percentage is higher this way than the other CC then definitely pay that back first. If you need any help with the calculations please PM me.

Trying to have an early night after an exhausting day, but someone in the village is having a party with the clear intention of preventing all of the rest of us from sleeping. And the dog is fussing about downstairs... I can hear her toenails clicking on the wooden floors as she wanders round.... I have let her out for a wee, she has water, and has been rearranging her bed, so I've got no idea what's up. Maybe she objects either to the early night or to the music... Or is hoping I've forgotten I fed her...

Well you did mention that she was a labrador :rotfl:

I hope you have had a good night sleep despite the part and that the doggie settled down eventually as well.

Fantasia : I agree with Greenbee that your weight sounds really good but I would like to shake your doctor for his/her attitude! Can I suggest you take control by increasing your exercise, which would be good for your lungs and raise your endorphin levels and see what that does? Measure yourself as you will be changing fat into muscle and that will show quicker in measurements.

Then, if it doesn't work as fast as you want, concentrate on healthy foods and see how that goes.

On step at a time is the key and maybe the unwelcome friend, Ana, will get the hint and leave?

I on the other hand appear to have been losing weight. I feel fat due to the inactivity and lethargy, but today have worn trousers that have always been too small. However, I hate the fact that my body is flabby and my mother, typically, isn't helping - convinced that being inactive must make me fat. According to my dad she has body dysmorphia when it comes to MY body... not hers, and perceives me as larger than I am. However, I do want to try to tone up what there is!

My appetite is still poor, but I'm eating in order to be able to take the iron supplements. I thought I was feeling better till today - 5 hours out of the house was just too much for me, so I need to rest tomorrow.
Poor you! Remember that the road to recovery is never straight and you will get days when it feels as if you are going backward. 5 hours out sounds quite a bit to me. As for your mother, what can I say? It sounds as if it is her problem, not yours, though if you have to hear it, that is probably no help. Count to 10. :rotfl:

Alternatively, do you feel strong enough to dig up the patio, yet?:rotfl::rotfl:

'Fingers in several pies' does seem to be the way to go. If you want to go all posh about it, you say you are building a 'Portfolio Career'. I'm very much in favour of doing what you enjoy to earn a living if possible. In these days of employment uncertainty, it sounds a very sensible option.

Sorry you are feeling bad and a good cry is probably what you need. Have you tried watching a weepy film or listening to sad music and getting it our of your system? Have a (())

We're off to a wedding this lunch time and, because we need to leave home at 11.45 and won't get fed till late afternoon, we'll need a sandwich before we go and I certainly won't be hungry as we had breakfast late. I think I'll put mine in a doggy bag and eat it in the car. :T
    Have a good day, all.
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

Marru... You're right... Labrador = dog shaped dustbin! It's raining now so she's fussing indoors. I think she's vaguely wondering when my dad will reappear...

Dusty - sorry you're feeling down. You don't really get any time to yourself during the holidays, so it's not surprising. You do need to remember to look after yourself as wall as everyone else.

Tricia... If only I thought about it when the hole in the patio was there ;) I try to ignore this stuff, but hey, mothers re supposed to make their daughters feel inadequate aren't they :)

I plan to spend today doing very little... With maybe the odd sort walk if it stops raining at any point. And then I have to steel myself to start packing for work. A week in Orlando during hurricane season.... And I need to practice my presentations at some point...

I have porridge oats here actually, never made them though, will have to see if I can find an easy recipe.

I also have a scone mix here

Don't have all the ingredients for flap jacks :( no brown sugar, could I use normal sugar do you think?

Honey can be a useful substitute in flapjacks if you have half a jar going spare:D

Morning all, had a lovely time on Friday night but sadly the fizz we drank meant that I felt a bit rough at work yesterday! Had a good sleep though, did a chilli overnight in the SC and have just made some Chinesey soup to last until I can get to the butchers/supermarket to get a ham hough for lentil soup. Ald1 do one but I really dont like it.

Dusty, have a hug and greenbee's right about taking some time for yourself when the kids are back at school. It must be exhausting and I honestly dont know how you ladies do it.

Off to work now. Tonight I need to have a bath and do some maintenance. My nails are not the best at the moment! Have a good Sunday all X
