  • Bitsy, that made me laugh! - My mother used to make us eat tripe *shudders* and it was like eating rubber bands! We all dreaded those meals but had no option but to eat it! :rotfl::rotfl:

The food rule for my girls was displayed on a fridge magnet:

"You have two choices:take it or leave it"

.... but never any tripe! They don't know how lucky they were!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Yeuch - we had tripe growing up most weeks. Horrible stuff, I could eat the liquor and the potatoes but as for the rest..... Another horror was potted heid! No wonder I became vegetarian once I had a choice:rotfl:

thankfully I wasn't subjected to tripe myself, I think my mum was put off as a child as it was her mums fave!!!!
For me I can't stand pork chops :o We had them week in, week out......without the benefit of slow cookers etc. Indeed my mums cooking back then was incredibly basic, my father wouldn't even eat pasta!! Thankfully that has since changed but we were your typical meat and two veg family back then. Boiled cabbage and boiled spuds bleurgh :o

I grew up in a house that was eat your dinner or don't eat anything. It turns out I can eat a lot of things I don't like and it was only a few years ago that I realised I don't like eggs and they make me feel really sick after eating them - seriously I thought that was how everyone felt after eating eggs! it wasn't untill I spoke to a mate who is allergic to eggs and has that same response to them. I don't like sausages or meat very much at all, I hate spicy food after years of eating curry that made "my nose hurt" lol - I remember saying that as a child. And don't get me started on potatoes!

In fact if someone could invent a pill i could take every mealtime instead of food that would be great!

Liver and heart I don't like and I can remember being made to sit for an hour and a half until I had eaten all my weetabix :(.

We have carrots left over so dh is going to cut them into carrot sticks and try them in the lunch boxes, and the flapjacks are made, they are just cooling before i put them in the fridge to set as the recipe said, I put some sultanas in them :) (well its worth a try.)

Only had enough golden syrup for the flapjacks, so will have to do twinks hob nobs in the week

I'm a bit torn on the eat it if it is in front of you argument. I can understand the idea behind it but from reading various different nutrition health books I am a strong believer that not all of us should eat the same foods. I feel bloated after bread, not great after much read meat and dislike eggs and pasta. I understand one of mine not liking eggs, but the other two love them. One of mine adores read meat, one is not fussed. For anybody interested the books on blood type and diet are very interesting.

That does not mean I think it is acceptable to waste food, eat too much rubbish or have pudding if you haven't eaten your dinner.

Massive pruning of the crab apple taken place, poor thing was so laden with fruit it was about to keel over.

Cooking a roast today and then I'll have cold cuts for DS2 for a couple of days as he is on work experience and needs a pack up - he is usually on school lunches.

    Yes Mum!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

I'm lucky both boys will eat well - helps that they are both interested in cooking though.

What is the cows udder stuff you eat with vinegar? Eldar is it? My parents used to make me eat that!

I was very much of the cry until I am sick attitude as a child - not much better now tbh.

We picked 10lb of cob nuts today - vast quantities left for anyone willing to brave the nettles. Found lots of sweet chestnuts too, fingers crossed they are still there when they are ripe.

Mummy Souk used to make me eat Mac and Cheese. Apparently she's really good at it but I have always found it foul. I love cheese and all pasta but this, Im gagging just thinking about the smell!!! The girls at work often eat it and it makes me retch every time. Granny used to force feed my mum mince so she hates it to this day!!!

My Dad is a horrendously fussy eater. Honestly, he has never had pasta, curry, Chinese etc in his life. I dont know where we've came from as we all eat everything, more or less. We all love to cook too and my parents dont. Mum cooks more now than she ever has. Fussy adults are a nightmare socially aren't they. I couldn't be doing with footery folk when Im out for dinner. My friends husband is fussy and its so childish and attention seeking so I've stopped asking him round. My friends little kids are less fussy than him!!!
