Wonderful post Hypno x0

And as for the decluttering - when I was still married, my house was (as anyone who has dipped into my old diaries will know) the most cluttered place ever. It really got me down, and it didn't seem to bother (X)OH in the slightest.
I tried everything - flylady, one room at a time, half hour bursts, if-you've-not-used-it-for-six-months, etc etc etc, and nothing worked.
Eventually I came up with the ingenious plan, that if I got a skip in, and gave everyone a given amount of time to "save" what was important to them, (I was thinking an hour - short sharp shock stuff), then everything else could go in the skip and we could start again. I had already made a list of very important things that were essential to be kept out of the firing line, like birth certs, passports etc, but after that, everything else was potentially replaceable if it had been disposed of by accident!
Needless to say, the suggestion was completely rejected with that look of "are you absolutely mad?".
However, the funny (!) thing was that about a year later, he had left me, I sold the house, and his suggestion for clearing out all the "stuff" before I actually moved, was to get a couple of skips in and just dump the lot!!!!!!

I love the skip idea Hypno. My goal is to get debt free, save up for a year, then get rid of almost everything and start again in Scotland. DH doesn't have much clutter, I've decluttered a lot too, but there still seems to be too much 'stuff'.0

Ah, well, you see Hypno, after a year, it had magically become his idea:D‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Re the skips.....It was a most satisfying process, I have to say!
It meant that I had far less surplus stuff to move to my new house.....it is not perfectly clear of clutter, of course, but is a million times better than the way I was living previously.
And I don't *think* anything got thrown away that really should have been kept!

How many people do I know like this? Used to have a manager who was exactly like this. If any of us wanted to do something we dropped it into the middle of a conversation whilst walking along the corridor and then left it to sit there for a while. Worked every time
