but until today she hadn't asked for help, she was very sure of what she wanted and asked very clearly for what she required. That makes it very very easy for us to help her quickly ............ and we will help you quickly as soon as you are certain of what it is that you need.

So very true, Greenbee and I friends and have been for a while now, I knew she needed these pictures and it is only today when she has been very specific in what she needed that I got of my backside and asked someone I knew could help :o

HL I have read and empathised, but not contributed to your thread. I may be wrong but my understanding with housing benefit is that you can't claim if you have assets worth more than so many thousand pounds. You haven't as you believe the equity is minimal, and you can prove why you thought this if you are subsequently investigated.

WTG Willow. I have a £2 fund for Christmas and it has a whole £6 in it, but today I noticed another two that DH has left *coughs* unsupervised in my car so up to £10 :j.

    - good idea but ours are only free to 12! Reminds me DS1 wants me to order him some Alex Ryder ones - do you remember me fretting about the boy who wouldn't read, well he read me a chapter of Junior James Bond whilst I cooked dinner tonight. How things have changed :)

From what I've been reading today the fact that I'm named on the mortgage/deeds is all that matters. It doesn't matter that we have no equity.
I'm guessing it's because they assume that as I'm on the mortgage/deeds why would I want to live anywhere else? They don't want to pay any benefits when I have somewhere to live.
Need to investigate if OH can take over the mortgage but that's not going to happen until I've told her.
I just can't get my head round the idea of having to continue living together because we have no choice.

Hex I'm glad the reading has commenced. DS3 is off reading right now but read an entire cricket match report out loud from the local paper today (complete with Indian names) as he knew DS1's name was in there.

DS2 loved the Alex Rider series and also the Cherub Series.

I realised something today after watching tv whilst ironing last night. It was cowboy builder program and the garden had been wrecked, they did the garden up as the lady wanted to enjoy the outside space. It made me think I never really 'enjoy' any room in our house or the garden. Not because there is anything wrong with them but because I am so task driven. If I'm in the garden I'm usually doing some gardening, putting the washing out etc, occasionally having a cuppa but that is all. Same with each room in the house, I'm either cleaning it, tiding it, ironing in it etc you get the picture. So I need to know are any of you like this too? Is there anything wrong with this? I heard a quote on the radio today (may have been from a film possibly Ferris something or other) that unless you occasionally stop and look around you everything just passes you by (something like that).

Sorry rambling but hopefully you'll pick a thread through this.

HL - it may be worth speaking to your local CAB and checking how this works in your area. I looked into this for someone last year who was getitng divorced and on the mortgage for her XHs house. she got HB but only for a limited period - 6 months I think - till the house was sold. They had no equity and she had no real savings. My council just asks if you have savings or equity greater than £X.

I agree with Hex HL. You dont know until you ask the right people. If you are homeless (through no fault of your own) then you must be entitled to some kind of help. Go to Shelter in your home town if you can or CAB.

Which just shows that instead of moaning about it and spending hours faffing around with very uninspiring clipart I should have come and talked to you lot in the first place. :D Thank you all SO much for your help.

I have also had my blood test results... haemoglobin within normal limits. Ferritin (stored iron) practically gone. So hopefully that explains the breathlessness and leg pain... However, having been taking 25mg iron a day as a supplement I now apparently have to take 200mg three times a day  for three months. I think serious fibre supplements will be in order :p Next tests in 3 months will include a test for coeliac disease, so I need to eat as much pizza as possible before then ... starting tonight :rotfl:
