Well I have had a great few days, with a cheque for £69.84 from freefivers, and £300 from weekend work the OH had done. It meant he was away for the bank holiday weekend, but also meant the pay was very good!
    New total is now £1731.02:j

    Hi there,

Here are my updated totals since I last posted them:

    Mystery shopping 38.90
    Amazon 19.78

bringing my grand total to 1779.81 :j

I've just banked some Paypal earnings, and I've got a Pigsback voucher to redeem, so I'll 'declare' those next week.

I think a mini challenge would be great to get peoples motivation back and boost the totals.

Something that I could do in the evenings (e.g. card/envelope making, candle or jewellery making) would be best for me as it has to be something that I can do that doesn't involve getting childcare).

My totals not looking much better as I haven't done anything active (apart frm panic :rotfl: about my debt). I didn't go to the table top sale that I had planned to :o as I had a massive hangover  - however I am seeing this as a positive because I have sorted out EVERYTHING that I can sell and it is all packed and ready to go to a car boot.

    Hope every1's doing OK xx

Hi all, good day as got paid and added £100 to savings, this will then go towards my yearly bus ticket, which I presume I can count in the challenge as normally I'd stick the bus pass on the credit card and pay it off bit by bit? This way I am saving bit by bit in advance instead :D :T !

I think it should be added to your total EL as without the challenge u wouldn't have saved it.

Thanks Jet - it's nice to add a chunk like that, feels very moneysaving to be able to buy the bus pass off my own back as it were.

How is everyone today? I am hoping my Amazon and Top Cashback money will hit tomorrow/Friday so I can add them to my totals har har... all of about £11! Then Ciao next week, around £11 again, not much but something.

I use the 'savings tower' in my spreadsheet (downloadable in my sig) to keep track of the various 'purposes' of the money as I am allocating this challenge money for various things but want the interest rate to be good and keep it all in one savings account with IceSave - so far, I have these categories:

    - Special Purchases (last month was a new TV, this month it's bus pass - this challenge has already paid for my half of a new £380 32" LCD tv (which we are so happy with, ours was ancient!!!!!) I am of course stoozing this money, whilst the 0% credit card enjoys carrying the new TV :D ) Latest is £202 in this category at the mo, but bus pass is £395 so a while to go yet. In the past Quidco money etc was filtered to this category but now all cashback sites/quidco etc will be towards Christmas, no exceptions!

    - Holidays - This challenge has allowed me to save £200 for spending money for a short break in Milan at the end of this month! Also paid for our flights to Milan (£100) and flights to Portugal this September (£180).

    - Christmas: Here I add the interest received from IceSave and also Quidco money. £39.73 in here total at the moment.

    - Cash Cushion - this is for days when I have no work. As I am self-employed I need a 'cushion' to soften the blow of days like that! £50 in there for now as it's my latest designated place for Olympic money saved. I may *however* have to sneak this £50 into the 'special purchases' category due to the bus pass as I need that this month.

I basically decide which category is the most important at the time, then type in the amount transferred into that category. It means if things change, I can move figures about within the categories, but the balance stays the same. It is much better than havign saving accounts for all the different things, as if I did, there would be far too many bank transfers involved! This way, it's all in IceSave, and my spreadsheet is more 'real' to me in terms of categories, hope that's not too waffly!

Well, maybe it will help folks to know how I am doing my thing, perhaps we can all share what we are using the momey for to keep motivated & be nosy ha ha ;):p:D

Books are quiet at the moment - I am not complaining as I am at the Coffee Shop for about 10 hours a day, and then have to shop for the next days fresh stuff.

The money saved so far has paid for a little (old) car as my other (old) car has 'coughed its clogs!' and is awaiting repair ready for sale. The rest of the money has been used for the first three months rent on the coffee shop and getting it going. This included money in the rent holding account. The money is being paid back at #120 a week be make sure it is all back in the rent account before it is needed in July. (Where did my quid sign go????)

We know we will have to move this year so the incentive now really is to get rid of as much stuff as possible, both to make money for a deposit and so there is less to take with us.

I just found out last week though - because our landlady's partner is claiming to live here it will have an adverse effect on our credit rating!
