Hurray! sold my first book on Amazon!

I'm still on zero so this is a bit of a boost! Today i'm going to list lots of things on ebay and try some matched betting.

When you sell stuff on Amazon do you usually just go for standard first class post? or recorded delivery or something?
  • If you can post it the day it was sold post it second class, if not just normal first class and get a certificate of posting.
You only get a small amount for postage so dont waste it on recorded delivery.

    Well done though!! :T
  • I'm still having a bad week so far as money making goes.....far too busy in work to do much, and just as I was going to do some serious listing today, I can't find my digital camera, and as I am working all afternoon / evening I don't have time to look for it. I am so annoyed! Hopefully the things I have already listed will sell this evening (total for the 2 items selling at the moment is £6.00), but I am not going to update the total until I have £50.00 to withdraw from paypal (unless I get cheques of course).
I still don't understand matched betting either, although it seems like easy money when you read other posts.
Sometimes it would be easier to make money if you didn't have a full time job!

Good luck to everyone for the week ahead!

I'm dying to try matched betting, but even reading the newbie thread for it confuses me!

All the ones I've looked at via quidco require you to put in a deposit - where are the free ones?

You do need a "float" to start with because you have to place an equivalent amount of your own money in order to "qualify" for the free bet. But you get it back (minus a few pence) as you will win the bet either at the bookies (where you bet as a punter) or at the betting exchange (where you lay the bet as a bookie). Once you have done the qualifier you get the free bet and that is where you make money. Once again you back and lay the same result - but this time you are backing with the bookie's money and since you will always win one way or the other you end up in profit. I reckon you probably need £50 to get going - start with some of the £10 free bets and build up a float. But the thing to remember is that although you are using your own money you are not risking it - as long as you follow the rules correctly.

That probably makes it all as clear as mud right?? :p:)

    thanks :D
don't i make money on my second bet with Skybet though? because the first bet was £50 of my own money to qualify for the free £50 bet?

Sorry - yes of course - forgot it was your qualifier - getting overexcited there! :p You'll make a small loss on your qualifier and a big profit on the freebie - should clear around £45 of the £50.

    Hi all,
Feel I need to be more inventive and was wandering about advertising a dog walking service at weekends and evenings. Has anyone ever tried this, if so any idea how much they charge.
Good luck for next week everyone.

I have a friend who is a dog walker and she charges £6 per dog but it varies hugely by area - in London I have heard people charging up to £15 a dog!!
But most people who need a dog walker need them during the day when they are at work - they can usually manage the evening and weekend walks. You might find people who work odd shifts who would need later walks, or perhaps people who get home from work late. Worth a try anyway - advertise with postcards in pet shops and vets and see if you have a training class close to you - the instructor might tell people about your service.

    Good luck.
  • morning all! whatever happened to the weekly totals?

I had a very mse night out last night, decided I would drive (as didnt really feel upfor a night out) picked people up on the way, so they all bought me my soft drinks and I only had to pay entry to the club!

no increase in my total for the last couple of days but I did recieve 2 £10 vouchers through the post this week from cashback sites that I need to convert to cash!
finally debt free and want to keep it that way!!

Or is it SNR? If so nearer £37 - didn't want you to worry if you couldn't get such a lot out! ;)

    Hi all,

Sorry for the delay in publishing the Week 1 totals. I'm working on it as we speak, so should have it all ready for you within a couple of hours.

In the meantime, I'll be posting the submission instructions again in the next 10 minutes, so you can start PM'ing me your updated totals. Please note that all I want is the GRAND TOTAL, dont bother with your amount for JUST week 2.

    Cheers
