    I love you I love you I love you!!!! :kisses3: :kisses3: :kisses3:

I am off to Vegas on Boxing Day WOOOOO HOOOOOO!! :T :T :T

I have been looking for flights at scary prices  (wanted to go 27th or 28th really) and now I have a fly drive deal for £549!!!

    :j :j :j :j NEW YEAR IN VEGAS :j :j :j :j

Thats great, I would love to be there over new year.

Just a couple of points tho, it is often cheaper to hire a car than take a flydrive (once you have added on all the extras)

have you booked hotel for vegas as it is the busiest and most expensive time to go

Have done fly drive a few times before so the extras won't be a shock - we will probably only use a car for a few days anyway (no point having one when you are staying in vegas) so I will check out the difference and see what happens. Thanks for the heads up though!

Managed to get some good hotel deals after a fair bit of searching today - 3 nights Monte Carlo (plus comp drinks, buffet & spa passes) for $299 then 3 nights Luxor (inc NYE) for $635. More expensive than I have paid before but overall not too bad. We are planning to drive down to the Grand Canyon and overnight somewhere en route in between those.

To be honest - these flights are a good £300+ cheaper (each) than I have seen anywhere else for this time of year so I am V pleased with myself...I was considering the Canaries but LV is much more fun!!!!

Didn't realise how cold it would be though - the latest I have been before is October and the weather was lovely then - does anyone know if it will be 'jumpers' or 'coats' weather (or even both  )?

Also any tips for where to spend NYE would be gratefully received.

    Still excited :j :j :j

We usually only need a light jumper during the day, but if you are going out of the casinos at night, you will need something more substantial.Don't worry about the casinos being too cold, they have that sorted down to a tee. Check the weather nearer your departure date. I couldn't help laugh when you said no need for a car in Vegas. We go 4 times a year and would be lost without one. How do you get to Walmart, Fry's, outlet malls, golf, Mt. Charleston, Red Rock, and just the freedom to get in your car and do any damn thing you want. ;)
P.S. Will be there from 22nd. Dec. till the 8th. Jan.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Glad you have hotels sorted, I have never been then either but my guess is it could be very cold at night (below zero)

The Grand canyon at that time of the year will be even colder, I have been there in May and it was below zero at night. Not sure how good the roads will be either could be snow

got back yesterday from 6 days in vegas!:j my first time!

it was great - a mix of weather though! on our first full day we went swimming the outside (heated) hotel pool. then it rained all one day. i don't particularly feel the cold but at night i wore my scarf and gloves (think my coat wasn't thick enough).

so much walking, you burn off all the food you eat. and the deuce bus is good value for $5 for 24 hours (exactly, not just per day) - it goes right up to the outlet centre at the top end of the strip.

we liked the italian restaurant in NYNY and the grand lux cafe in the Venetian - lots of choice and good value.

went to see phantom (after checking on people's opinions on various forums), but i wasn't that impressed.

we stayed in the bellagio which was great, and so was their breakfast buffet - same price as paris, but better. didn't eat in the bellagio o/wise.

can't think of anything else to say at the moment x

saw this in Travelzoo's top 20.

We just found the best deal we've ever seen at the AAA 4-Diamond MGM Grand Las Vegas -- it's just $70 and up per night on select dates through March 27. This hotel is regularly $150 per night through the spring.

While this is already an amazing deal, the hotel is also offering:
    • A $25 activity credit (per stay) -- for use at select restaurants, or at the shows "KÀ" by Cirque du Soleil or "Crazy Horse"
    • Stay 2 nights and get the 3rd for FREE -- including over the New Year's holiday
You can also upgrade to a Bungalow suite with a marble bath for $25 more. Book by Dec. 17.

A total of 16 dates through Jan. 3 -- including a Friday night -- are $70 per night. If you stay 3 consecutive nights, your nightly rate could average $46.67. Other dates through March 27 start at $80 -- including all the extras.

We've been late December/early January a few times and it really can vary even day to day within the same trip. Sometimes we've been fine in long sleeve tops and other times we've had coats, gloves, hats - the works. It's the wind that makes the difference but I distinctly remember standing waiting for our car at the valet at Excalibur, all bundled up, freezing to death, cursing the wind and thinking 'this is so wrong - it's so much warmer in London!'

So my advice would be to plan for layers. :)
