Cheap eats in Vegas:- Ellis Island Steak and beer deal $6.99,their breakfasts are also good value. Terribles buffet is not as bad as its name and I saw lots of people on their own with coupons but I never discovered where they came from.
The best Buffet I found was not far from the Cortez at Main Street Station casino.0 -

Money is tight so Helicopters are definitely out! I was thinking a a bus trip but the al the ones i have found on the web are really pricey. I am travelling alone so 2 for 1 deals are no good to me.
Also any advice on cheap places to eat would be good, as I say 2 for 1 deals seem to be plentiful but are not good if travelling alone. I am staying at the El Cortez, down town near Freemont street. Thanks.
Here's the list of the 2008 American Casino Guide which is available now (and coupons can be used immediately):
http://www.americancasinoguide.com/Store/Coupons-2008.shtml
There is a discount bus trip to the Grand Canyon and you will see that some of the 2-for-1 buffet coupons are good for 50% off if alone - though some of them will not be easy to get to without a car.
Some free drinks there, free hot dogs (not necessarily a proper meal, but something).
You would have to buy it in Vegas as it's not available in the UK yet - and whether it would be worth the cost (about $17) would depend on how many of the vouchers you would use.
There's another bus trip here with a discount internet rate of a little over $80.

Have never taken a bus tour so can't comment on how good they are, etc.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
You can get the 2008 casino guide from amazon uk now, mine was dispatched yesterday.

Hi all - arrived back from Vegas Friday morning. Had fantastic time.
Here's a summary of info that may be useful........
- Stayed at Mirage having booked standard room on their website. $20 trick no good as "those rooms arent upgradeable"
- Played the Luxor 12pm tourney one day and the Planet Hollywood 2pm tourney the next day - maybe 50 or so entries at each but with a couple of novices in our party, these entry fees were reasonable
- Went out to Hoover Dam by car - its huge - on the way back theres a gun place that lets you shoot a sub-machine gun at a Bin-Laden target!!! One of our lot sprayed the ceiling and got covered in plaster
- Mirage casino felt dark and dingy compared to the others
- Mirage, Wynn and Bellagio buffets were great - Paris was pants
- Did the Heli-USA night flight down the strip - was $25 or so I think - definately do it if youve never been in one before
- Star Trek Experience was a letdown
- Virgin have a Bag Drop in Vegas so you can check in online there - we didnt but arriving 2 hours before takeoff, there was only a five minute queue to get checked in
- Virgin were selling emergency door seats with the legroom for $110 and PE upgrades for £279 at MCO
- for a very special meal, go out to Rosemarys, about 7 miles off the strip
- duty free at MCO is poor - theres a machine that dispenses Ipods but still at taxed prices
- always remember the first rule of Vegas.......just because you can see it doesnt mean you can walk it.......Hilton to Mirage just wasted almost two hours of the trip and we ended up walking down the hard shoulder, thru the Encore building site, and then over the Wynn golf course and thru the golf club restaurant
- Beatles LOVE was excellent and really enjoyed Penn and Teller
- Premium Outlet Mall seemed to be mainly shoe shops
I'll post some photos when I get some time. Anyone got any questions, let me know.illegitimi non carborundum0 -

LVA does a top 10 values each month , The Ellis island steak deal had been top for about 10 years. tip though ....it,s not on the menu you have to ask for it.
also try the Steak dinner at Gold Coast for $10.95 ( available 24/7) . you get a bread, fries or baked potato , onion rings , and full salad i believe. also a glass of beer. would be a good deal without the steak.
cheap bites include Shrimp Cocktail for 99c ( 11am - 2am) at Golden Gate , Hotdog for 75c at Suncoast and breakfast specials at wild wild west , Gold rush , wildfire and Magic star for $1.49.
if you really don,t want to search all of thoose places out though most buffets are pretty good value , and there are plenty of cheap eats about if you look.
the LVA book of discounts can be purchased now and picked up while you are over there, i will let you know how good the deals in it are when i have used mine inBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
We ate at The Steakhouse at Circus Circus - not in the $10.95 bracket, but it won various awards over the past few years......its odd as its in a rather downmarket hotel. The 20oz prime rib (maybe $30 or so....includes bread, salad, potato) was excellent......didnt need a knife to cut it as it just fell apart.
Theres also a budget grand canyon trip for about $100 or so......you dont get a landing for that price but you fly over the canyon and back again.illegitimi non carborundum0 -

When I checked this morning it said estimated despatch 1-3 weeks so I wonder if pre-orders took out their intial supply and they're now waiting for more?Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

That reminds me - unless they change something before the OP's trip - sign up at Bill's players club (it's free) and they will give a book with loads of coupons including $5 off the buffets at most of the Harrah's casinos. Breakfast or lunch prices will be good value with the $5 off.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Welcome back - glad that you had a great time!
If anyone's interested in The Gun Store there is a $5 off coupon on their website here.

Just back from LAS. Here's a few tips:
Grand Canyon tours by air: the cheapest (considerably) are with King Airlines (www.kingairelines.com). They bus you to Henderson exec field..not much further than McCarran
The Outlets just south of McCarran seem to be slightly better than the Premium Outlets north of the strip. It will take you a day to wade through the whole centre.
For show tickets: try 'Tix for Tonite'. They are located beside Gameworks/M&Ms world and have great bargains for shows that day. Going to the box offices is a rip-off.
If you are staying in the vicinity of MGM/NYNY/Tropicana/Luxor etc it is cheaper to get a cab from the airport than a hotel shuttle.
The Deuce bus allows you to ride the strip and local routes for $5 per 24hrs. if going to the Premium Outlets, travel to the north strip past the Sahara, get off opposite Dennys restaurant, cross the car park and take the 108 (same ticket).Timmay!0
