Cheapest Broadband Provider Discussion Area

I have been using plusnet at https://www.plus.net for 18 months now with an excellent service.
At £14.99/month for 1MB speed it is fantastic value for money.
2 catches (as there are always catches)
1) initial set up charge, but you don't pay this if you are moving from another provider. Even if you do have to pay it, you can pay over 12 months.
2) Max 1GB data transfer/month - this is plenty for me and I do a couple of hours surfing/night plus email photos to friends. Unless you are into downloading music and films 1GB should be ample, you do not need unlimited. Also, if you do happen to go over the 1GB in a month, you just pay an extra £1.90 for that month.
Another excellent service they provide is their referrals, which gives you money off every month for each person you get to sign up. Get 60 people to sign up and the broadband will be FREE.
If you do decide to sign up please put me down as your referral (prais.plus.net)- I am sure you will be very pleased with the excellent, cheap broadband service.0 -
Hsibbur, that last paragraph of your post SHOULD be on the referrals board.0

Tiscali are offering 1 meg Broadband for £15.99 a month - which is surely a good offer for anyone who has not signed up, as the equipment and connection are free. But this is described as an "introductory offer". Does anyone know what this means? Does it mean that they are liable to put the price up afer a while, or does it mean that the offer is not open to existing subscribers?Reed0

I almost signed up to this, but backed out when they gave me the run-around after spelling my name wrong etc. The offer is available for an unspecified period. Once you sign up it is applies for at least the 12 month contract.0 -

Hello - Need some help in finding the cheapest/best broadband provider for my nephew. At the moment he is using a pay as you go service which is working out very expenseive (not broadband). He uses the internet in the evenings during the week and at weekends, mainly to just look up things and maybe download pictures. Probably a light to medium user. I have read many of the posts in this discussion area and there seems to be so many different companies to choose from that I am now very confused!! Would preferably be looking to spend up to £15.00 per month if possible? Is it best to get unlimited access for a set price? Any help greatly appreciated - thanks!0

Phone with telewest but they cannot provide BB in this area until at least March (big city). Fed up waiting. Looking at the options, most providers seem need BT line, not cable (am I confused here?).
I work from home so some daytime use and lots at night for teens for music but not many games etc. Non techie and bit worried re what is involved and how easy to change it all. Any suggestions please?0 -
My posts about broadband keep getting deleted!
My father, sister and I want broadband but we are all currently with BT Yahoo Anytime which is £15.99 a month. We want to pay a similiar amount to what we are paying now but do not have a clue about broadband but I think we would prefer unlimited use. Who should we all sign up for? Can someone please respond as my father and sister want broadband desperately?
