Good evening all, sorry if there is already a thread and apologies to pink or penguin for extra work but i need a quick answer and really dont mind if this post is moved somewhere else soon :0)
Ok so ds has spent the weekend with me and begged for 'Nigellas' chilli for tea tonight, i have made it that many times and always found it wasn't quite hot enough!
Tonight whilst adding A LITTLE EXTRA cumin, coriander and cinnamon, i slipped......
Result, mixed with the usual extra chilli powder and chilli sauce..... explosive chilli!
Ok my long winded question really results in, is there anything i can add to tame the beast? my mouth is still on fire 15 mins after i last tasted it!
Leigh xx
(oh and memo to me, leave the wine drinking until the meal is complete, dont start before!)

If you have any in, or a shop nearby, get some Raita- cools it wonderfully and tastes delish!Only dead fish go with the flow...0

I use a dab of mayo on the top - it really helps and is mostly already in the fridge rather than being something you have to go out and buy. Or plain yogurt mixed in just before serving or both!0

No chocolate in the house except fruit and nut! will that do?... also no raita, sounds fab though...if i cant rescue it tonight would it be ok to add these in the morning and then freeze as i have already taken out tomorrows lamb joint and it is the only day of the week i stick to... More of everything else (tomatoes etc) works then freeze left overs. Chocolate can work. You could freeze smaller ptions to add to an unspiced chilli later. One day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
I've never needed to try this myself, so can't vouch for it working.....But, I remember years ago, a friend of mine telling me that a little cream (or milk) added to a hot spicy curry, works well to take the heat out of it0

You need to add lemon juice, either from a fresh lemon or bottled.
I usually use bottled. It was trick my partner told me & I was really surprised when it worked.0 -
I have made a huge pot of spicy red lentil soup this evening. I knew I shouldn't have made double before trying it first!!
Anyway, I've gone a bit wild with the chilli powder and it's bordering on being too hot to eat (and I do like spicy food!).
Is there anything I can do to take the heat out of it a bit. (It's a Weightwatchers recipe, so nothing overly fattening, please!)
Apart from the over chilli-ness, it's lovely - especially as the only ingredient I had to actually go out and buy for it today was celery. And I got that for 20p in the reduced section - yay0 -
Mix a spoon of natural yogurt into a bowl before serving, will calm it down nicely. Spicy red lentil soup sounds excellent to me, is the recipe online?Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0
