To be fair I am mid 20's and have 3 points! :A
Try ringing Tesco.
They recently sent me the renewal for my house insurance and I found it cheaper through Quidco, so I rang to cancel.
They ended up offering to beat the renewal quote, so I told em it was £140 cheaper (it wasnt, it was £90) They matched the price AND sent me a £20 gift card to spend in store :T

Yesterday was the biggest 'head f*ck' day so far!
I actually told someone about my debt.
The problem is, it was 2 years too late for different reasons. Now I'm left feeling guilty because if I had the balls to be open and honest back then, then someone else probably wouldn't be in the position they are now.

SS,
You cant blame yourself for someone else getting themselves into a bad situation.
I havent told anyone about my debt either, you admit to it when you're good and ready hun, if at all.Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

I agree with spud - you don't have the responsibility for someone else getting in debt.
In fact, good for you for starting to come out and admit the debt - but sorry it freaked you out so much.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi hun
I have just read your post and am going to say the same thing back to you that have said to me more than once and that is please stop beating yourself up about something that is really not your fault because even if you had been honest about your debts then the people that you told would probably have been very sympathetic towards you but would have gone and did what they did anyway because talking from my own experience people only ever see what they want to see until it is too late no matter who tells them what.Debt August 2007 - £38,204.58 - Completely Debt Free - May 2008 - Now Proudly Saving.DFW Nerd Number 684 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts:heartpuls Very Proud Aunty Ciara :heartpuls0 -

You can't know that 'fessing up to your debt back then would have changed things, SS. We've all got a streak of 'yes, but my situation is different' pre-LBM. My ex still says: "If I had all the money I'd spent on drink ... I'd spend it on drink.."
As for cars - bleedin' money pits on wheels. Once you get to 26 and your points are spent, insurance will reduce dramatically. I found Tesco's rubbish as well and I'm a middle-aged woman with a clean licence, 300 years' no claims and an old Volvo - they quoted me around £239, as did the AA, whereas everyone else was quoting around £112. Finally got a deal with the Post Office - £149 plus £50 cashback, so £99 fully comp. I got turned down by Saga, though, as apparently I was too young and the car too old :rotfl:Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

I can't help but feel responsible. And it's dragged up alot of memories and feelings!
It's all just a f*cking mess! :doh:0 -
*hugs* You can't blame yourself for the circumstances of others. Life's full of if's and but's - you made the decision you did at the time for a reason. You can't know all the consequencesNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130
