i went to do a little shop today..... and i must admit i did buy more fruit and veg... because of the programme last night......
so i bought a sweet potato.. new tasted it before..... so wil have to find out what to do with it now
I love sweet potato roasted - I peel it, chopit up and mix with chopped butternut. The roast them. Mmmm lovely :drool:Save the earth, it's the only planet with chocolate!0 -
The cholestrol reduction was amazing, I got close to that in 3 months, but only because medication I take for another problem actually reduces it, so it was even quicker than medication. Wow! Makes you wonder doesn't it why when people need to reduce it they are not prescribed raw fruit and veg instead. Everyone actually looked more healthy aswell. Living in the zoo would have been worth doing the diet for me, something I always wanted to do as a kid, would be like living my dream from when I was 6.
Main problem with fruit and veg is it's so expensive to buy it, hence this year I want to grow some of the basics we use so I can spend the savings on the rest, last year on average I spent £40 on fruit and veg, at least, a week!
Yes the little pill cam was incredible, I'm going to ask my specialist about that, might get to the 'bottom' of my problem with food if they can see what's going on as detailed as that. Can't see them being able to do it yet, but maybe in time when the technology is more widely available. Always worth asking as shy kids get nothing. One day I might be more organised...........

This was a really interesting programme and I'll be keen to see the rest of the series. Like most of you I'll be buying some more fruit from now on!;) as for the garlic my DH absolutely hates it so I have bought some odourless capsules to take, ther're also supposed to be good against colds and flu so I've been told! not had a cold since I started taking them!;)Do what you love :happyhear0

I watched this and thought it was great. I actually thought 5kg of raw fruit and veg would be more - although I'm sure I'd have had problems eating that much too. My problem would have been the olive for the salt - hate, hate, HATE them.
I love raw brocolli and cauliflower (only the c/flower does give you stinky breath) In fact, I love lots of raw veggies, thinking about it. However, I also love all the other food too.
Mind you - next week's....... that woman 'sipping' from that test-tube ..... and the voice over that says what you eat can affect the way 'you' taste!!! I'd better not let Mr TM watch THAT one - if ya get my drift ( :lipsrseal _pale_)

Did anyone manage to catch how much fruit and veg they were eating on the Evolution diet? In the Radio Times article about the programme it says "five kilos of raw fruit and veg per day". I am having trouble picturing what that would look like, and am also wondering how long it would take to chew and swallow that much, to say nothing of the loo trips! It isn't exactly practical for daily living is it?An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

i have never tasted an olive..... so i will take peeps word that they are not very nice .....
raw garlic.......my hubby would only need that to keep colds and flue away
i think i will be putting some chopped carrots ....celery.. cucumber.... etc.. in a container in the fridge at ALL times... as the kids are allways saying that their hungry... and end up eating biscuits etc...( when i got them ).. so this way.., they can snack healthily.....
the only problem i can see for us is the cost... as i spend about £18, today and most of it was fruit and veg.... where i would only allocate about £6 a week.... i buy a 25kg sack of potatoes so the £6. doesnt include pots...
oh ye.... did you notice that their complextions looked a lot better too... was that because of the fruit or being in the open air ?Work to live= not live to work0 -

I don't think that they expected us to follow that diet. I think that as long as people are aware of the benefits of lots of fruit and veg and try to incorporate as much as we can, that will be fine. I couldn't get my DS2 to eat that much if I bribed him with 5 KG of chocolate, but at lest I get him to eat quite a bit
As for their complexions - probably bothMind you - I could do with 12 days in a zoo, eating fruit. I've only just got rid of various kids and got mine to bed, so I'm sat here with a bottle of wine and the remainder of the Pringles

Cooltrickerchick I agree with you with the cost implications, spending £40 a week on fresh fruit and veg was me last year, fresh berries probably the most expensive, I've learned to shop around more but we still use a lot, at least £20 + hence why I am looking into growing some basics next year so I can buy the rest. One day I might be more organised...........
