Thanks girls. Taxi I'm touched by the vote of confidence!

It's true, stressful as the freelance life can be, there are too many benefits to give it up really. I had a bad patch this week when the thought of a job seemed easier, but it has passed!

Alas, OH's pay has not arrived, so it must be due on 25th, which is Sunday - a bit annoying.

  • Hope things are better for you now Seaxwyn and you're feeling a bit more settled. Just go with your heart, you won't go far wrong.

If OH's pay system is anything like my DH it may appear today(Friday):j as his is in his account the last working day if the actual payday falls during a weekend in any month.

    Take care

I'm on a high - I sat down to work at 9am, and at 10am sent off three pieces of work I've been putting off for a while. Just shows what you can do if you don't start your day on MSE!

I've got eight hours now til I have to pick up the kids and I'm going to use it to catch up on work for another client and earn a whole day's pay. Today is the beginning of a whole new me!

Will still have to have the odd tea break of course.

Hey you aren't meant to be on here. Go off you go and do another billable hour!!

Only joking! I am sure that you haven't been on here all day and that you have been super efficient!

Hi I've just popped on for a quick fix as I was flagging. I found myself watching youtube videos of Knut the polar bear so knew it was time for a break.

I have worked pretty solidly today, however the work I had to do was quite routine and unchallenging, so just because I can do it once doesn't mean I've solved my problem. It's when I have to write long pieces of prose that my problems start.

Chev, what's happening on the oil leak? If you've posted elsewhere I've missed it.

Yes ...but it's the start of things to come and if you do loads of billable hours you'll get rid of that debt in no time...so that will be doubly good news...any sign of DH wage yet?

OH's pay has arrived in his bank :j:j:j

He got £2,800 - more than I ever imagined. We don't know til he gets his payslip whether or not tax has been deducted.

Once the children are in bed, I will sit him down with the list of urgent bills that I have been saving for this moment. I hope he will pay all or most of them.

I raised the subject of what to do now his income exceeds his outgoings. I was ready to wade in with advice but I'm glad to say he has a good MSE plan of his own, to save up to pay off his HSBC loan. This is our highest interest loan and stands at about £3,500 I think, so shouldn't take long if he continues to earn the same amount.

I am feeling optimistic that we can turn our situation around now.
