Thanks everyone. The day was OK but I have a lot of work to catch up on this evening.

I've decided to pay off my Sainsburys CC (CC2 in my sig) this month. I'm expecting a cheque any day and when it clears, I'll pay off the CC in full. It will leave things very tight for the month, but it will be a big psychological boost to have paid off a whole debt.

As the other CCs are low interest, I will then take a break from overpayments and start saving what I can towards July's tax bill (January's should fit inside my capacious overdraft).

So that feels good. On the other hand, I realised I need to tell the tax credits people that OH is now earning. We have been receiving £277/month recently, which I'm sure is an over-calculation, so we may well be back to paying them now. Tax credits seem a roller-coaster, I swing between getting generous amounts and nothing at all and owing them.

One of my clients has invited me to lunch on Weds and made some ominous comment about changes instore. I don't think they have much money so wouldnt be surprised if they took the work I do in-house. They're my lowest paying client so it's not a huge loss, but I like them, and I get a certain amount of cred from my association with them which I would be sad to lose. Two of my other main clients have recently appointed staff so will likely have less need of my services, while the other one ends in March. So I need to do some thinking about what kind of clients and work I want to replace the current crop.

So that's my update from today! Now I'm going to have a quick catch-up on the boards to see what I've missed here.

Hi Seax, I agree about paying off the CC - a great boost, but make sure it doesn't leave things so tight that you can't manage.

As for lunch on wednesday - don't worry about the changes they are making - just enjoy the lunch :D

  • Hi Sea

Just thought I would read and catch up - brilliant news about DH's cheque - I bet it's such a weight of your minds. He sounds like my DH with food - I let him choose as he is oh so choosy!

Well done on paying a debt off - can't wait for the day I get to do that - though it seems a long way off at the mo :o

Hiya. I'm looking forward to updating my sig, it should be well under 35k by the end of this month.

I rang the tax credits people and told them of OH's increased earnings. The man said that as it was less than 10k increase in the tax year, they will leave my payment as it is and adjust after April. Which is nice for now, but might mean a shock come May.

I'm at home today with two sick children. I feel terrible about missing another day at my office job, particularly as I recently took 3 days off using sick children as an excuse. However DS has a high temperature and is quite distressed so I couldn't possibly go to work.

I must use the day to catch up on work as I have outstanding bits for all four clients.

Sorry the kids are sick. I hope they recover soon and don't give you too much misery.

Good luck with the work catch up - that is what I am about to start!!!
