Hello Hypno! Well I've done some work but not the main two tasks so should press on.
Sick kids have rallied and are currently discussing whether to make muffins! Calpol is miraculous in such cases.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
The cheque arrived today so I've banked it and now face the agonising wait for it to clear so I can pay off CC2 for good.
While in the bank I picked up a leaflet advertising a £5,000 prize draw - to enter you just have to attend one of their 'personal reviews'. So I'll be booking one. It will be a good opportunity to rehearse the kind of questions I will need to ask when I become a new 'mature' DFW in the new year.
Any other Nat West customers might want to endure a review too.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

Hi all
I actually got loads done yesterday despite the kids being here. They're still at home today and I hope to clock up 8 hours again. Luckily DD1 is one of the afflicted and she is brilliant at looking after her siblings.
I've checked my online banking and the cheque I paid in yesterday is showing in the 'balance' figure, but not the 'available'. Can I risk paying off my CC today do you think?Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Thanks blackangel - any more news about your threatened redundancy?
Oops! Only just found this. Still no news, we are still busy and it is just a waiting game. Luckily, in a sense, we are only a small firm so we are very open in the office about it all, but think the stress is still there but under the surface. I think it will be make or break in May. If we get a case charged I will probably get a hefty pay rise and guaranteed security for the next 3 years. If not, then redundancy queue here I come
To add a fly to the ointment, Dh raised the topic of baby number three last night with me  I hate the idea that we won't have anymore, but I don't know whether it is possible re finances, job insecurity etc?? The thing is, if we were settled in a few years I think I might regret it - gosh I just don't know. I really thought we had settled on two and now I am starting to feel every so slightly broody again0 -

Hi Sea, children can be quite helpful when they want to be, how old is your DD? My oldest is brilliant with her brother and he really does push her to the limits, she's only little herself as well and is far too patient with him.
I would wait until the figure is in the available figure "just in case". Bet you can't wait to pay it off though x0 -
Thanks BA. My oldest daughters are 13 and very helpful in lots of ways - they are great girls. Next oldest is 9 and she's good too.
What a dilemma for you about baby no 3. Very very hard decision and you need to keep talking til you know what's best.
We had baby no 4 (DS now 6) by accident and whilst I love him to bits and wouldn't be without him, to be honest his arrival did create huge stress. We wouldn't be anything like as much debt if he hadn't come along.
Everyone's circumstances are different, but it is worth bearing in mind that if you depend on having two incomes, having a baby will almost certainly reduce one of those incomes substantially, or increase costs through childcare.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Thanks Sea,
I am really bothered by it all. As wrong as it is, I am living for the day I stop paying nursery fees for DS as that will go towards our debt and so that plan woul dbe thwarted. I don't want to regret having another baby because of money either. Bl00dy men - why do they bring these things up?0 -
BA, I can't remember how old you are but I have the impression you are ever so young, so there's no rush to have that third baby. Leave it a bit longer and DD will be even more helpful.
I'm so glad I have decided to pay off my CC as I will do that come what may on Monday. And next week is looking very expensive, with trips to Kent (driving), Somerset (by train) and Suffolk (driving).
I'm visiting a friend with a new baby, so will take her a present. And I'm going to a funeral, which has put me in a position where I HAVE to buy a pair of shoes. The only non-tatty shoes I have are summer ones and the funeral may involve walking through a muddy graveyard.
So I'm thinking of buying a pair of boots that will see me through the next several winters. What is the most DFW of doing this?
I did get a lovely pair of boots for £1 at a carboot sale recently but they fell apart.
I got a quick extra editing job today which will pay £80 so I reckon that can cover the cost of the boots and the present, but it won't cover the train fares and diesel.
I'm also setting myself a target of making £60 profit on Amazon by Christmas - this is to cover shortfall in the bank account my loan payment goes out of - I made £10 today so that is a good start.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
