Right, with taxi going back to work, OliveOyl talking of relocation allowances and cunning plans, and Hypno setting her sights on 20k  I had to do something.
So I have today applied and been accepted for a Sainsbury's loan at 6.5% to pay off my natwest loan at 7.8%.
So instead of 64 payments of £386.86 I will now pay 60 payments of £391.63, saving £1261.24 in all. AND I don't start repayments til November, giving me two months to get my overdraft down, and I still get loan-free one month earlier, in Nov 2012.
The penalty for paying early is the same as the NW loan - two months interest.
And I get 5,000 nectar points.
The paperwork is on its way for me to sign - can anyone see any faults in this scheme?
If anyone else wants to apply for a Sainsbury's loan, I've got a code to quote for the Nectar points thing.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

Well, I can see no flaws in the plan, and if I could get any sort of credit, I would be applying for it too!!
I will send you my book, to help with the procrastination/mis-prioritising etc. It is fab, and is really really helping me!!
But you can't have it until I am done!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Thanks Hypno, I would really like that book if it is helping you, but if you don't want to part with your copy, just tell me the name again and I will buy my own.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

It may be a while before I finish it but here are the details:
"why am I so disorganised sort your stuff" by Dr Marilyn Paul
ISBN 0-7499-2480-2
I am happy to forward it on when I am done, but prob not until the end of the month, as I still have lots of "stuff" to deal with before I am organised enough to go it aloneSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. I have just ordered it on Amazon. We can both sell our copies on there once we've read them and got organised.
Talking of which, I have decided to have an Amazon session tonight. This house is stuffed full of books, many of them large, I haven't listed them before for fear of mahoosive postage costs. But hey, I've got scales. I'm going to look them up on Amazon and Ebay and see if I've got anything valuable.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Excellent! I really should go up in the loft and see what books I have up there that could sell - I am sure we have a few. I keep meaning to have a look around the charity shops etc but never get round to it - like so much stuff I mean to do!!
I have had a read through the Amazon threads this afternoon though to try and inspire me.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Well if you like we could have a mini Amazon challenge to add to all the other challenges. Nothing too taxing, maybe listing 10 books a week or something?Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

I've been waiting to update this when my loan switch thingy was completed (taking out a new loan to pay off my current one) but it's taking AGES. The paperwork went back and forth at snail's pace and now NatWest want 4 working days for the cheque to clear - gah!
When it finally happens I hope I will be in the 35ks (just). I keep adding it up and getting different results.
We had a nail-biting month with various cheques arriving late, I really feared the mortgage bouncing etc etc but all arrived in the nick of time. I am so, so tired of living like this.
I have huge amounts of work, with all my regular clients wanting to give me ever more and more. Which is great financially, but means I am working LONG hours, seven days a week, and always stressed about backlog.
OH starts his teaching job next week. I hope the money, structure and stimulation will do him a world of good, but I am having mini worries that he'll find the organisation, paperwork etc brings him down. He's already struggling with some course documents he has to write.
Otherwise money saving continues in it's usual multi-faceted way.
I pick up a load of books from a Freecycler this morning, I hope some of them turn out to be saleable.
I bought a trolley-load of very cheap dented tins in Tesco yesterday, so what with them, windfall apples from my mum's garden and walnuts scrumped (is that the word?) from a scary Sleeping Beauty house on my DDs' paper round, we shouldnt have to buy any food for a while. I should also have £50 worth of Nectar points too - incentive for the new loan - must chase that up.
Finally, I have not just one but two nights out this week - thanks to a restaurant voucher given to me by kind MSE-er pointypenguin (thanks pointy) and another I won in a competition. I'm very much looking forward to both.
Oh dear, another marathon post, back to work now.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Morning Seaxwyn. I am really pleased that the loan went through. I have to say that if I could have done similar, I would have done so like a shot. However, I didn't even get the vanquis card I applied for through topcashback, so there must be no hope of ever getting any help for me. Really cheeses me off, because I am not behind, no defaults, yada yada yada!
anyway, hopefully this will take another bit of pressure off you - love the term "multi faceted money saving" that certainly applies to me, and I think I may steal that if you don't mind!!
I missed your challenge for Amazon.....I have still got to get up into the loft. I will pledge to do so this week, and will keep you informed.
I hope OH gets stuck into his new job. I start my PGCE in 10 days. Secretly I am hoping it will lead to lots of lecturing work. I have had a yearning to do this for many years, but never done so. Perhaps in the next few years.....
I hope you have a good day, and that the coming month is less "by the skin of your teeth" for both of us!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
