why not get wax strips or wax kit from boots seaxwyn and do a DIY pamper day? a friend of mine swears by them and would never pay a salon again!
Really sorry to hear about the mice by the way, sounds asthough the cat requires neutering. you should report him to the RSPCA really as he's not exercising responsible ownership allowing it to kill others pets.
Have a great great holiday and hope the weather is good for you.

Have you thought of using an epilator on the legs. I got one about a year ago, and I think it's brilliant. The main thing I picked up before buying is to make sure hair isn't too long otherwise it's  But if you use it regularly it seems ideal for me and it isn't that painful really.

The Braun ones had the best reviews at the time I was looking.

Hope you have a good holiday.

    Hi pania,

I've tried home wax strips but it was too agonising!! I'm going to stick to shaving.

The cat... don't get me started! I did contact the RSPCA as it kills a prolific number of wild birds, but they said there's nothing they can do. It's so sad. If humans killed wild birds we'd be prosecuted, but if humans allow cats to do it, they get off scot-free.

I'm too upset to reply to a post by Dr Hook on the 'should I get a dog' thread. If the species were changed, and it was dogs killing cats (for example), everyone would be up in arms. But people think they have a right to keep animals that destroy defenceless wildlife.

    Oh dear, must calm down...

oh bless you honey, I do completely agree, not a cat girl myself and yes they should be kept in overnight. I'll have a think if there is anything on the wild animals act or re the mice that you can report him for.

As i said on the dog thread, cats kill animals and we do to, however I have seen cats killing birds and they "play" with them for ages before hand.
He should keep it in or make it wear a bell so they can get away.
I had cat once, luckily it wasn't a killer. However i was given it as a female and lets just say millie was renamed billy! He sprayed everywhere and was foul!

matey had nearly talked me into trying the wax strips, but think i'll stick with good ol mr gilette!

Postman came early but... no cheque.

Oh well, so I have (another) overdraft for a week. I'm not going to stress about it.

  • Hi Seawyn
I've been away on business covering a conference for work. It was good but exhausting.

I do have good news though my two of our adult kids have come through with birthday and Christmas presents early for us both so that OH and I can go to my niece's wedding in Orlando, Fl. Not where I'd get married but hey, its's a break. I had thought that we wouldn't be able go as the taxes on flights were so high. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/images/smilies/speechless-smiley-040.gifI did have the airmiles for the flights but... Anyhow, we go in mid-September for 5 days and two of my three my nieces have decided to pay for our entrance to Disneyworld for two days plus my eldest daughter paid for our accommodation. There is hope when the kids grow up. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gifThis was all totally unexpected and I am really looking forward to seeing my three nieces and their husbands (one is the groom) and my brother. Who knows my son who is in America may come as well!

PLUS I applied to CarBooty as I have a great deal to sell that wouldn't go on ebay - furniture and glassware where the postage and packing would make the goods impossible to sell and ship. Anyhow, they accepted us and will film on 5 Sept. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/images/smilies/action-smiley-033.gifThis will hopefully get me the money to update my camera from film to digital plus some over. I use the camera for work so it has to be high definition. It is not really an extravagance but the film and developing have been expensive so it should save money plus not have the rush to get things developed - I work for a weekly magazine. The boot sale is 9 September about a week before we leave for the wedding. What luck! I am so excited. To top everything my eldest daughter has invited us to a barbeque and she is baking me a birthday cake for tomorrow (hope it really is sunny) - I'm hitting 21 for the third time!

Hope that your holiday goes well.

Don't know of you have left yet but the weather is beautiful down here at the moment and the forecast good through to Monday (it doesn't go any further at the moment). I hope you enjoy our beautiful county.

As for outings - pack a picnic and walk the coast path. Nothing better.

What area are you visiting. Just in case I can come up with some cheap ideas for you.

    Hi lovelybirchtrees and Kez100

lbt what a lovely present! That sounds wonderful and you will really enjoy that holiday. And fab news about Carbooty. Things are looking up.

    And Happy Birthday!!!

Kez100, thanks for the welcome! I should think you must get fed up with tourists. We are staying at Pendra Loweth, near Falmouth, I believe it's about a mile from the beach at Maenporth, so I expect we'll go there most days, and walk along the coast path as you suggest.

I also want to go to the Eden Centre.

If you have any other suggestions I'd be very grateful - our party ranges from age 6 to adult, and one of my daughters is really keen to go fishing. Do you know anyone who would take us out mackerel fishing?

I'd hoped to finish work but I'm still wading through proofs, lbt a weekly magazine must be murder. Also have to set up a newsletter before i can go using glitchy software that has had me tearing my hair out half the day.

Oh well.... this time tomorrow the computer will be left far behind.

I'm in SE Cornwall so only know of fishing trips from here. You will need to pay the local quay a visit to see what trips are on. Mackeral ones can often be picked up for just a couple of hours which makes it cheaper than the half day trips.

Lands End is a theme park with entrance fee now. I prefer The Lizard (the most southerly point in the UK - so a Lands End of sorts). It's wilder and less spoiled.

It is manic here but I don't get fed up and it is a compliment that people love our home so much- it also keeps our economy going. We always have mini housing booms in September as people decide to move down, some stay - some don't, and then next year we start the whole process again!

I am probably a bit odd but in the summer when the weather is good I like to go where it is quiet. The moors, the coast path, rockpooling or the quiet end of the long beaches!

Eden is a bit of a trek from Falmouth. Don't do it on Bank Holiday Monday when the traffic will be at it's worst, I expect.

    Have a wonderful time.
