Hello Chev
My books are just on the normal Amazon list. I've got 95 listed at present and have sold 13 (I think) this month. The average profit after postage is only about £3 per book though.
I have been selling on Amazon for 2.5 years and have always been surprised by the amount of sales. I don't know why I do so well. I try only to list things that I think will sell. That means not listing things that have lots of copies already listed.
I usually match the lowest price, unless my copy is very much better or worse than the others. If the other sellers have sub-100% feedback I usually list at a higher price than them as I think many buyers take account of feedback.
All in all Amazon has been good for me. The only downside is that the seller discussion board is if anything more addictive than MSE!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
So you mean you have them as an auction seax?I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

No - I just find the book on Amazon as if I was going to buy it, then click 'sell yours here'. I enter a description and price, and my copy then appears on the list of 'used and new' copies available on the main page for that book.
I know there is an auction area of Amazon but I have never used it.
I find it very easy to use and it has the beauty that you don't pay anything unless it sells.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
I guess then that my books are not that popular, though I had hopes for the Chocolat (book of the film), and the others. Ho hum guess I will go back to ebay then! Thanks for the advice, see you later after I have knocked off a chapter of the book I have to read.....

HI Chev, I'm sure there are people buying 'Chocolat' all the time! But there are probably hundreds of copies listed, across lots of different editions, so the chances of a buyer picking yours are lowered. If you've got any rarer books (eg text books or old books) try those and you might have more luck.
I went out for a pizza with a friend last night and the outing, including train fare, cost £33.87. I really like my friend and always enjoy seeing her but I'm getting fed up that she always insists on meeting near her office (hence a train journey for me) and having a pizza plus wine - impossible to suggest just going to a pub. Sometimes I've suggested a different venue or a cheaper option but she won't have it. She even turned down the offer of a free meal courtesy of my Indian restaurant voucher. Next time, could you instigate the evening out - invite her and tell her you have booked somewhere already?
I too need to look for books to go on Amazon - I am sure I have lots of hardback coffee table type books in the loft that could be listed. Will send OH up into the loft later in the week to investigate.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Hi Hypno, When you list the hardbacks, make sure to charge enough to cover postage as Amazon charges a flat postage fee (I'm sure you know this).
I've got lots of big hardbacks too so I will dig out the scales and see if they're worth listing.
I probably wont sell any more books now after my bragging.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Morning all.
Good news: OH is doing a sandwich round this week - it's £5/hour for a few hours a day plus lots of free sandwiches. I hope this continues until he finds some 'real' work.
No news: We have still had no formal confirmation of the job he's been offered for next term teaching at an art school, though the head of the course says it's still on.
Sad news: our missing mice have not reappeared despite the treats laid out to tempt them. So they are all presumed dead. But good news: I have found a mouse who sounds a perfect companion for poor lonely Zephyr and very DFW as we don't have to pay for her.
Bad news: I'm wasting time on here when I have work to do!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

Stop press! I've just taken delivery of a Dualit Hand Blender and Hand Mixer which I won in a competition on a Lurpak packet!
They look really posh, however there are a couple on ebay with no bids. What shall I do.... Keep them for Christmas presents?Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
