Hey seax, how's the running going. A few of us are thinking of doing the Abingdon marathon in October - is that near you? Thanks everyone. Things are a bit :eek::mad: here. I'm deep in my NatWest overdraft and can't get out of it. Several of my clients have been very late in paying. Also I've found out the big job I'm doing is not paid at £30/hour as I thought but 28 Euros/hour, which is less than £25, even less when you count the bank fee for changing Euros.
I haven't got any other work lined up, and had to turn down a few days of really high paid work as I'm committed to this other job. All very anxious-making. Especially since OH's teaching tails off in March and the college is closed for a whole month for Easter holidays.
I know we need a big change round here, but I can't see what. I've been looking at job ads online and haven't seen anything I could apply for.
So not very positive BUT it's only money.... we all have our health and I know there's a lot of people with more to worry about than I have.
Edited to add - Hypno are you crazy? TWO marathons? I don't think I've got a marathon in me... will see how I feel after my 5 mile race in May. But thanks for giving me an excuse to boast that my DD2 is the 55th fastest 14 year old in Britain, following Inter Counties cross country championships yesterday. She's in a race in Loughborough in 2 weeks time and we have to pay £48 for her coach transport and hotel accommodation and £12 for a new design Surrey vest. Thank goodness she's not a skier!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Ooh well done to DD :T :T :T Isn't it fab having "proud mum" moments
(even if they do cost us a fortune!).
I'm only thinking about doing the other marathon - it will depend on how I do at the London Marathon next month. I won't make any decisions until after that.......
Sorry that work remains hit and miss....can OH do any more (or more to the point, will he do any more)?Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Yike, Seaxwyn, sorry to hear this - I had an image of you beavering away at well paid work and coining it in, sorry it isn't accurate. Like you say, there are many worse things happening in the world, but still..... when someone says that to me, I always think, yeah, but *this* is happening to *me*, and I'm right here!
Its pretty scary to think that as long term self employed we're pretty much unemployable by anyone else.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Sorry to hear things arent that good at the moment. I hope in the next few weeks things start to pick up. Have you managed to do anything with the stuff your mum has given you?DEBT OUTSTANDING 23.04.17 £16802.970

Hi Seaxwyn - I don't know if this is much help, but I found meditation useful, as I am forever procrastinating - it helped me come up with creative ideas and really gave me a lift.
