I don't usually update my signature mid-month but we've paid off the annoying temporary debt left hanging after last month, so I just had to do it. It looks much better.
OH got a decent paycheque this month, and I got paid for some jobs too, so it's all looking very healthy (so long as you don't think about the dreaded t-word). The mortgage goes out this week and will take us back over £31k again but I also have several invoices outstanding so we may just enter January in the 30s, I would like that.
OH made a fuss about paying some bills, as it would leave him with 'only' £600 until next payday. In some ways this was annoying, as I always have to pay the bills regardless, but in another way I'm pleased that he is thinking in those terms.
Tomorrow I have some work to finish then I have to do the Christmas food shopping. My sis and I are cooking for 14 people on Christmas day and 17 on Boxing Day. My mum and brother will contribute to the costs though. Tomorrow evening I'm taking my dad to a carol service. I'm looking forward to that, it's one of the things I reliably enjoy about Christmas. I hope I'll be able to empty my mind of work and money stresses and feel a bit more like celebrating.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Enjoy that carol service seaxwyn - sounds like an excellent opportunity to relax and gently get into the Christmas frame of mind. And sounds like you'll need that time - 14! and 17!!!!! Wow! That is a lot of people - I am impressed! I cooked a decent meal for a couple of friends yesterday and was pleased with myself0

Thanks Mizmir. I was just wondering where you'd disappeared to. Hope you're all set to have a merry Christmas.
I'm not too stressed about the catering as it's only family, I'd be far more anxious cooking for friends. And my OH is such a perfectionist he will probably take over when he sees me bungling the tricky bits.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Yep I'm around - just not having a lot of time to get on here. Was away a few days last week - and will be away over Christmas - but am definitely only going to be away temporarily as far as MSE is concerned. I have to get debt free next year - and it aint gonna happen on my own!0

I enjoy a good Carol service, i always get tearful when the children are singing. I am catering for about 8 this Christmas and don't envy you although the Turkey is of donkey proportions!
Just reminded me to pay the mortgage out so it will clear in time for Christmas.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

My tax bill has arrived. £8159.13 to pay by January 31st. It would be wonderful if some of this could be deferred.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

Good luck with getting the tax bill deferred.
Wishing you and yours all the very best for Christmas. I hope you have a fantastic time, and manage to get some much needed chillout time at some point!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes.
