That's a lot of money so hopefully you have been motivated enough to do it.What a nice cheery post and that's quite a nice lump to look forward to.
Well done on the kids getting the pressies for that amount!!!..how clever!!!0 -
I'm feeling a lot less cheery now because I still haven't written those darned articles. They've been hanging over me for weeks now and I just can't get them done. Also OH bought a completely unnecessary and pointless hi-fi in LIDL for £30 thinking it would make a present for "somebody". I'm going to make him take it back, anyone know if LIDL do refunds?Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

I don't know about Lidls but certainly worth a try. Men!
What will it take for you to get down to work? A deadline? A clear space? A glass of wine? Whatever it is, get it, and get down to the work - you know that once you start, the words will flow and it will get done.
The first step is the hardest - making a start. After that.........simple!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
I'm having a burst of optimism. I've got £3265 in invoices outstanding, OH gets paid on Monday, so I know I can clear the temporary debts, as well as have something towards the tax bill......
Now I just have to write two features, which I have been putting off in my usual style. If I can write 3200 words today that's another £1230 I can bill for, so wish me luck.Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0 -
Hi Seaxwyn, phew i don't know whether it is this time of the morning or what..but i suppose i felt i had to share. I have been on DFW for over a year(signed up) but actually was on for a good while before that lurking etc. Yours was one of the first threads i read around April 2007 when we were going through a very bad time, as everything was coming down on our heads..self employed OH and his tax, DD2 just diagnosed with diabetes after a series of operations for other stuff..
Well i just wanted to say, i re read the first few pages and reminded myself about how important it was for me reading both yours and Hypnos posts. It is amazing how far everyone has come and i have to say bloomin good tips keep everyone going.
Signing off now before i get over sentimental.
But just wanted to say thanks..it all helped me through some dark times, knowing others were going through similar..should have said it before really.

BOB, I am touched by your lovely post. It's humbling to think this diary could help anyone going through hard times. I too find people's diaries the most amazing source of encouragement and inspiration.
Well after a sleepless night stressing about those stupid articles, I've decided that I'm just going to write one of them. The other is really too difficult, I don't have the right mindset to write it. I'll just write up the two interviews I did for it and send them to the editor and let him sort it out. I hope it doesn't ruin his Christmas.
So I've got one to do today, unfortunately the shorter and less well paid, so I'll only get £350 instead of £1230 but never mind.
Got to fit it in round a busy day - taking the girls running, visiting my mum. I'm also really tempted to take the kids to see White Christmas, which is on at the local cinema. It would be £30 though - can't really be justified, can it?Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Thanks bob!
But.....2.14am  Get some sleep woman!!!!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Morning Seaxwyn - get the shorter article done, and you never know, it might have inspired you to do the bigger one.
£30 is a fair "treat" for Christmas.........especially if you are using it as a reward for several hundred pounds worth of billable work............:D
Of course, if OH takes the stereo back, you can use that £30 for the tickets......Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
I've come to my senses and realised £30 for a cinema trip is a waste of money. Instead I'll invest in a Radio Times and I'm sure we can find an old musical to watch at home.
Now, time to stop faffing and start writing. I won't come back here til I've got a reasonable draft done.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
