Quick update for the 1st of the month. Today's debt total is £1170 less than on 1st September - woo hoo!

I hope that we are entering an easier six months now that the long summer holiday is over and OH is teaching again. Now I really do have to face up to the tax bill and start bringing in money every which way I can.

    That's great Seaxwyn.

It's pretty bad that the college has messed your OH around so much! Are there any other colleges nearby ish that he could apply to?

He has applied to a couple of other colleges without success. He even applied for a temporary staff post at the college where he's working and didn't get it. He hasn't got any qualifications so doesn't meet the criteria for teaching jobs really.

So we are lucky he has this work at all - and it's probably because the college is so disorganised that he has got so much work there. Long may it last.

Could OH do an evening course towards getting a qualification? Might help him get a permanent post, even the fact of being on the course might help??

The college was going to arrange to train him on the job. It might still happen. The leader of the course OH mainly teaches on has not been around yet this term. So he might have organised for it to happen or he might not (somehow I suspect the latter). I am certainly encouraging OH to look into getting a qualification, it would be brilliant if he could get a salaried, pensionable teaching job for the few years of working life he has left.

I've had some amazing good luck. My lovely sister has given me a laptop! She and her partner are upgrading theirs, and gave me a perfectly good 4-year-old Dell laptop.

I am so grateful, I wanted one so much and can't believe this has landed in my lap. Best of all, it doesn't have a built-in modem, so I can use it to write without the horrible internet distracting me!

She's also given me a snazzy new phone, with a camera, I feel as if I've finally entered the 21st century.

Also I've had several good offers of work, most of which I've had to turn down as I'm going to go and stay with a friend for a few days. She's just had a mastectomy so I'm going to go and help out with her children. It's annoying to have to say no to work, but reassuring that it should be offered.

Money is tight this month, and there are various school trips, Duke of Edinburgh scheme things, and spiked running shoes to be bought... but I can't fret about these things when the universe continues to send such good fortune my way.

Seax well done about the presents. It is lovely when that happens. Good luck with the work continuing to come. And don't forget about putting wanteds on freecycle, for things you need.
