    Morning all.

OH has now got his schedule from the college. He's got 17 days teaching this term. Actually some of them are only half days. The college has messed him around badly. They are NOT now paying for the marking work he did in the summer - they said they would - and they're not paying for a training day he was required to attend yesterday. He's understandably fed up, but for now, this is the only work he's got, apart from odd bits of gardening and driving.

I've got up to 30 days work for a new client (can't really guess how much til I see it), which I hope will start soon. It's at my lowest hourly rate, but a nice client. So should just about keep head above water but still not putting anything aside for tax.

It just occurred to me that maybe your OH could do mystery shopping. I bet they don't get many men signing up for it. It could mean he got quite a lot of jobs, AND the bonus is he could do it around the college work. He seems quite a clever guy, so maybe also he could try and enrol for AQA? That way he helps but isn't losing the college work....

AQA would be a good one!

Seaxwyn, I don't know if you do onepoll surveys, but if so they are doing "youngpoll" for the kids - dead easy, specifically aimed at under 18s and when the account reaches £40 they get a payout - could be worth signing up in order to get all your kids clicking! They are suitable for your youngest too! Even if it takes all year to get £40, that is a good amount of money for a child!

Hope you have a good weekend!

hullooo folks. Thanks for the ideas. OH is usually resistant to my suggestions and I can't see mystery shopping or AQA appealing to him. But the kids will love to do youngpoll surveys, thanks for the suggestion.

I'm OK. The outgoings are all covered for the month, which is satisfying, and I've got enough work for next month's too. Then nothing booked.... so I must get on with marketing myself. I haven't saved any more for tax, I'm banking on being able to save some of OH's college pay in Oct, Nov and Dec.

I went out with a friend last night who is also an occasional client. He runs his business in such a different way to me, it was real food for thought. He aims to do 20 hours billable work, 4 hours admin, 4 hours business development and 4 hours non-work-related web surfing each week. Now I obviously do all those things but have not the faintest clue how much time I spend on each. I do need to get a whole lot more businesslike.

Glad things are going in the right direction for you. Has OH got all his paperwork sorted for the payroll?
