Seaxwyn, seriously, I think you should take it too. I used to do all sorts of voluntary work in the pacifist sector, and then in the alternative health sector (as well as doing paid work in it now!), and the argument that has always made most sense to me is that when we take money from somewhere like Bernard Matthews, we're "liberating" money/energy from that kind of energy to help support people (us!) who think in a kinder, more holistic way.

I don't think its sensible to be so purist that you turn down growth, even if it comes from a toxic area. Go for it - burn a candle over it, make a donation if you want, but if you're offered the work, take it!

Hope you don't mind me putting my two penn'orth in.

Thanks Karma - your 'permission' means a lot to me. As well as ethical considerations, there is vanity to consider though. If any of my clients recognised me on a BM ad, I'd be mortified!

Also, I've just realised that DS is invited to a friend's party/sleepover that weekend - the first sleepover he's ever been invited to and it means a lot to him. So he won't want to come, and he's the most photogenic of the lot of us. So maybe it can't happen.

I'm blushing here - but I know what you mean, this happened on somebody else's thread a few days ago, when I was relieved that you'd posted agreeing with me....

Oh I can *so* relate to that!

Oh! Thats a bit more of a problem - tho I take issue on you and your family's behalf that you're not photogenic! Is there any chance that the sleepover and the photo shoot could both happen, if you were picked for the shoot?

DS's party swung it and we've decided to let the BM opportunity pass. It wasn't just that, I just couldn't contemplate telling friends, my parents.... I would expose myself as a big hypocrite. So that's £800 I will never earn. However I've told the friend at the ad agency to keep us in mind for any others. They also have the Waitrose account, now I'd have no qualms about prostituting my family for them.

    Hi Seaxwyn,

Sad about the £800, would have been a good boost to the tax saving fund.

I guess you have to have the money by the end of January? How about your new diary being along those lines. "Make £xxxx by January 30th" (or 28th to give you time to get it to IR in time for 31st)?

I've calculated my tax liability for January and made £8158. I rang IR to get confirmation but they haven't processed my form yet. Anyway, I want to get started on colouring in squares like everyone else. I make it 163 £50 squares as near as dammit. Is there a Word wizard out there who could tell me how to make an attractive grid?

I just opened a new document and did "insert table" - mine was the most boring grid going, but it does the job as you can decide how many columns and rows you have so that you get an appropriate number of squares.

    I like the name!

I did the same as you, but have got a titchy grid at the top of the page. I want the squares nice and big for maximum colouring pleasure!

To get them bigger, just go into the top square and press return.

keep pressing return until that row is big enough for you, then move the cursor down to the next row of squares and repeat.

    hope that helps!
