Congratulations on clearing the loan, and not even needing to use the ISA money! Thats really good news.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

our total debt today stands at £34,118.13. That is actually £1700 less than on 1 April this year, so I feel a bit better about things.
:beer:Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0 -

Hello! How nice of you to look in!
I haven't posted for a while as I've been very down about money. Our lower earnings over the past month or so are really showing, and we are - barring miracles - going to have to dip into my ISA this month, or start using credit cards. Very demoralising after doing much better over the past year.
However I did have an amazing stroke of luck today. I answered an ad on Freecycle for a slow cooker - and when I went to pick it up found a rather desperate young man trying to dispose of the whole contents of his flat as he moves to the US tomorrow. So I helped him out by taking... seven large bagfuls of books. I'm halfway through listing them on Amazon now, and there are some beauties.
So that's cheered me up - though otherwise things are pretty dire.

Ooh, how come I have missed this thread for the last week or so
But anyhow, fab news with the books!! As for the "feeling low", I wish I could just come and bring you a big hug and a bottle of wine (oh, and a cheque for £35k!)

What a lovely thought, I wish you could come over too.
I really do feel bad about my whole life. Money, obviously; my ongoing failure to do my work efficiently; my OH who has the same failings as me with an extra dose of grumpiness thrown in (or perhaps he'd say I'm the grumpy one); and my dysfunctional family. The kids have been awful today - teenagers sulky, DS bratty. I know our life would be a whole lot easier if I could just keep the house orderly and be a calm constant presence, instead of someone who's always there and always stressing.
I am beginning to think seriously about looking for an actual job. So that at least when I'm in the house, I'm fully focussed on it and not always stressing about work. However the freedom and relatively high earnings I have as a self-employed person seem too good to give up.
Oh I don't know... these same thoughts turn over in my mind constantly and I never reach any conclusion.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Great news on paying off the loan without using your ISA too. Well done.:j
Hope you find some lucrative work soon and that the books bring a tidy sum.:D
Has your OH been promised work for next term? How's your work search going?
I know what you mean about a calm existence. Our house has too much "stuff" which makes keeping it clean and tidy impossible. Gradually getting rid of things through freecycle but have a long way to go.
If we ever get there I imagine the feeling of calm in-controlness will be lovely! :cool:CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420
