20 votes!! So close. But at least you did your bet - it is too easy to say "I should have done more". What's done is done, and you can now concentrate on what is ahead of you.
I hope you have a sunny day where you are today, and that you can take this weekend to chill a bit, before moving full steam ahead into the week on Tuesday.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hi Taxi, Hypno and Seax
Things are getting there slowly. We have someone coming next week to make our tank legal (needs fire proof sheet on the wood of the garage, so that it can't catch fire.) And we have just had a gardener come round who will keep it looking neat when a) people come to view, and b) during a rental, so that it isn't a bone of contention when people come to leave.
Other than that we are slowly getting through stuff with tidying. I have managed to nearly get rid of one box of clothes (from when I thought I could make selling a living at the depths of my depression), which is a great step forward. But I think at the end of the thing, someone on freecycle is going to be VERY lucky with getting a load of clothes for a car boot if I can't fit them in the container! My office is a bit shcizo (sp?) at the mo and I have cleaned up the area around my desk, so you can see carpet again:eek: . But the area I don't look at when I am typing is still covered with dross! And I have vaguely been keeping the kitchen/bathroom areas presentable. So getting there. Gosh though it does take a lot of energy though!

Thanks Chev, I am very touched by your concern.
Without my doing anything, some work has come in for this week and next. Unfortunately it's from my lowest paying client. But it's still work.

Well some work is better than nothing!
I managed to achieve my tasks for today, except that the silly shoe people has NOT kept the shoes, ho hum. On the other hand it means that we won't spend £60 on two pairs of shoes this week but will do it just before we leave!

Hi all. I'm having a disastrous weekend money-wise.
- Went to the ballet with two friends last night. Total cost of trip (travel, tickets and drinks) £34.15  I did try to explain that I couldn't afford it but my friend said she'd pay for my ticket, which I couldn't really allow, and out of stupid pride I agreed to go.
- Did a carboot sale today. Total profit, for getting up at 5.30 and standing in the roasting sun for six hours: £8.57 (but I did buy a jigsaw puzzle for my brother-in-law's birthday, and the DDs made lots of cash which of course them immediately spent).
I also have another job overdue, so may have to cancel some work in London tomorrow to catch up. Oh I hate this stupid stress I put myself through.
Money is very tight at present while we wait for cheques to arrive. I'm sick of living like this. I wish OH would get sick of it too but he's completely blase, and when money is in his account he is happy to spend it all in Sainsburys and Waitrose. He's just gone to Sainsbury's now and I made a point of giving him my hard-earned carboot takings, so I hope he will think twice before buying three kinds of goat cheese or a luxury pudding 'knocked down' to only £2.99.
Sorry about the whinge, I'm writing it down here to shame myself into starting work on the proof-reading.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Hi I'm sorry to hear you are feeling down and the car boot didn't go very well. I know that when I need to focus I always find a list helps and aim to do at least 4 things off that list before bedtime. I find it satisfying to cross them off (sad I know) and see if I can get over the target. Is there anything you can do that will help you to stay focused? Have a kitchen timer and concentrate solidly for 15 minute blocks on one task before you allow yourself a 'reward' ie coming on here, for say 10 mins and then another 15 mins concentrating. I wish I had work queuing up for me. Hope you feel happier soon. Try a soak in the bath.

Hi Seaxwyn, I am really pleased you have posted - I knew you were avoiding your diary, but I didn't want to come across as any sort of nag, if you see what I mean (I have instead, been concentrating my nagging efforts on Elantan and her dodgy knee!)........
I hope you have managed to get that proof reading at least started xxxSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hi Hypno, thanks for posting. The proofreading is more than half done! I will try to get to three quarters before going to bed, although I am knackered.
But I've been sidetracked by having to write a letter to a teacher explaining that my twin DDs haven't done a piece of homework. The silly twits only told us tonight that they were each meant to have made a film - but as we don't have a video camera or film editing software they have been unable to do it. Unfortunately this film counts towards their GCSE grade. I'm struggling to write the letter now, torn between exasperation at the girls for not revealing their problem sooner, and guilt that OH and I should have picked up the few hints they did give about this. Is it OK to ask for extra time in these circumstances do you think?Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
blimey, that is a tough one. Surely the school should be able to lend them a video camera? My student is doing AS level media studies and we had to sign a "guarantee" type form that said if she lost/damaged the camera she was borrowing then we would claim on our house insurance.
When does it need to be in? Surely there will be the ability to extend? I don't envy you having to write the letter though - I found it hard enough writing in trying to explain that DS had not printed off his homework because I didn't have ink in the printer (and couldn't afford to go buy any until the end of the month!).Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
