I have a dilemma. I am still not overwhelmed with work (and have still not done anything proactive about getting any) and a friend has given me an application form for invigilating at the local secondary school. They pay £7/hour and it's taxed..... so hardly worth it really. But I'm kind of tempted and even wondered if it could possibly lead to other casual work at the school. Shall I apply? Views welcome.

But writing that reminds me that I really must polish up my CV and send it off to a few former and potential clients. And ring that PR company again - haven't heard a bean so given up hope really.

    Tasks for today and tomorrow:
    - tiny bit of billable work - do this first
    - make decision about invigilating and if yes, drop the form off this afternoon
    - tax return
    - CV and work hunt
Oh and deliver yet more Green Party leaflets..... I've done hundreds already but the candidate is a friend, last year he came second by 181 votes so I hope really has a chance this time.

My Egg credit card is now £38.17 in the black. I paid this sum to clear the balance earlier in the month - and now they have taken it again by direct debit. How do I go about getting this money back from Egg?

I would guess you can just ring them up and ask for this amount to be sent to you.

However, I have never been in the black so I am only guessing :o

  • Hi Seax

Re invigilating, definately do it. My friend does it and it is really good money for not a great deal of effort. I'd do it :D

Well done on being in the black with Egg :j On the rare occasions I have been blessed with such credits I have just rung them up and they have returned it to my account, took a few days but was all sorted with a phone call.

I've sent Egg one of those secure message thingys. But don't crack open the champagne, I've only cleared that card by transferring the balance to Virgin. That particular debt has been doing the rounds of 0% cards for about four years now!

Well, I would crack open the champagne just for being able to have 0% cards :D

The only thing about the invigilating is that would it interfere with the PR work that your friend had put your forward for? Does this mean that you didn't get it?
