Good news - I must have messed up the process of registering with the rat website, as it won't let me back in. Phew! Safe from randomly adopting animals as a new displacement activity.

    Morning all.

Things have taken a positive turn here - not so much financially as in OH's attitude. He has got some freelance work on top of the teaching, and it's obviously given him a boost.

Yesterday we took a load of stuff which had been cluttering our garden to the dump, there's lots more to go but it's nice to look out from the kitchen and see a bit of patio rather than rusting scrap metal. He finished building another computer in the garden studio (this has taken 18 months), and has been doing some sorting out in the shed which turned up, among other things, a long-lost Building Society book. He last used the account in 1980-something, it has a few pounds in it.

Bizarrely, some more long-lost money is on its way. OH received a letter yesterday from some lawyers in Dublin saying he will be paid 235 Euros by a company that went bankrupt in 1992 owing him money. The original debt was over £1000 but we had long since given up expecting to get it, so this is a bonus.

Also, OH's tidying unearthed some of my old vinyl records. I don't suppose any are valuable but there are some from relatively obscure Indie labels so I'll research those. OH himself has a huge collection of vinyl records going back to the 60s, he has always refused to countenance selling these but he's now bought himself a gadget for copying them onto MP3s so we can perhaps sell his too.

I've got a load of stuff on the dining room table waiting for OH to come and photograph it. He's a really good photographer so will do a much better job than me - but he's very hard to motivate to actually do it. He just came downstairs, looked at the table, and went back to bed with Private Eye.

Wow! I just looked up my record on ebay 'completed listings' and I do seem to have some rarities. I'm a bit worried about condition, as I played these records to death.

It was a nostalgic experience, these records meant so much to me when I was a teenager. Some of them were given to me by old boyfriends, or reminded me of particular events. It will be weird to sell them, but given that until yesterday I didn't even know I still had them, I might as well let them go.

    Hi Seax

Why not kidnap OH's MP3 gadget thing so you still have a copy of songs before you sell. Just a thought...
