Hi Seax how old is DS? I think he is older than my oldest isn't (my ds is 6). Otherwise I could have scared up a pair of pj's.
Never mind about the cookery job it is their loss!

Hiya, I'm fine thanks. Not a lot going on. My work is winding down now and OH's term ends this Friday so it's a little scary. But I will worry about that after my skiing holiday! We're leaving next Thursday and will be gone til Easter weekend, so it doesn't seem worth doing anything now.
I've borrowed nearly everything we need for skiing. My mum has given me £20 so that will more than cover the pyjamas. Thanks for the offer Chev, that's really kind, my DS is 6 too, but DD who is coming skiing is a lanky ten-year old!) And various relatives have given us leftover holiday money, amounting to 68 Euros! I'm doing a carboot sale on Sunday (weather permitting) and will use any proceeds as holiday money.
Finally OH actually stuck the water bill on the kitchen noticeboard with the date it needed to be paid written on in marker pen. A huge step forward from his usual bury-it-under-the-nearest-pile approach. So I feel generally optimistic.
How are you chev? any response to your letter? And any nearer to setting a date for emigrating?Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

Hi Seax
Yes the bally letter came basically telling us that we are liars, and that we can mmp off.  . So now all we can do is escalate it and get a solicitor cos I just can't with this and everything else.

Anyway, hope you are looking forward to the skiing!! I am jealous that you are heading off before me, even though I follow not long after!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Where's the missing post I wonder? Hypno, will we overlap on the slopes? I'm in France from 14-22 March. Not that I'd see you as you whizzed past.
I'm really excited. I got some expert advice on the tax board and think that I might not have to pay a mahoosive tax bill til January. If that's the case, I can use my tax savings to reduce my debts. Or maybe even my mortgage! That's the next big thing on the horizon if my July tax bill isn't going to be a shocker. I haven't had a proper statement from the Inland Revenue for over a year, which can't be right. I'll ring them tomorrow.
I got another couple of hours proofreading today, to deliver tomorrow. I really like these little jobs, and they net £25/hour. Also sold a book on Amazon today. Spookily, I looked at it only this morning and thought 'surely, someone will buy you soon'. And they did.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Excellent news on the tax bill.... hopefully it won't be too big and you can save the money for the debts/mortgage.
Love the bit about the Amazon sale, I;m gonna try that with mine I think!

HOORAY!!!!! I have just learned that I only have to pay £909.68 tax in July so I have already saved enough :j:j:j:j:j
January's bill will be much bigger, but that is a nice long way off.
Now I have the pleasant task of working out what to do with the extra £773 I have saved. Suggestions welcome.
My main concern is to get the best possible remortgage deal, so advice from anyone about how to make myself more attractive to mortgage lenders is welcome!
Edited to say: I have written a long post on the mortgage board, if anyone can advise it is http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=9144919#post9144919Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
