Hi Seax great news about the taxes. I had a bit of good news yesterday too. I had been wondering why I hadn't got a pay out when Portman and Nationwide merged, well finally phone yesterday and there had been a query about my address (yet they could send my OH's to the same address?!) so had not sent it. So that is £200 odd coming to me soon. Woohoo.
Going to phone the solicitor today (gulp), so we will soon be haemorraging money over that. So the £200 will pay for about 1.5 hours of her time. Sigh

i think that income is the key to your situation ....

could OH look at things like B&Q, TESCO (or other supermarkets)...all these seem to be very willing to employ older people and dont require specific experience and even if the pay isn't fantastic its good regular income with overetime opportunities.

Also once you have worked for 6 months(i think! it's changed recently) with Tesco or Sainsbury you have a colleague discount of 10% on your spending with them.(15% at certain times of year e.g. Xmas) believe me this helps with the food shopping enormously-- DS works at Sains.

Great news Chevalier! I hope the luck continues and the oil business is sorted without further grief.

I had a great time and have come back refreshed with new zeal to get a bit more order into my home and life generally. OH did a good job of holding the fort and seems a bit more sorted too.

I await my credit card bill with trepidation. I paid for our ski hire, lift passes and instruction on the card and as the sums were in Euros I didn't really take them in. So I don't know what the damage was.

Now OH and I have to face up to getting more work, and deal with some tedious but important admin things. But first off.... lunch.
