17 year old pregnant

Several TV programs on perpetual loop on BBC3 about young pregnant girls, may get some info from these.0

What does the daughter do now? you say she's 17 and her mother is not getting child benefit or tax credits for her - so is she working? as if she is she may be entitled to SMP or MA, regardless of her age0
-
No she is not working she has just finished a diploma in horse care. and has decided she is not going to collage next year so her mum had to inform child tax and child benefit. she has been looking for a job but not had any joy.0

Tell your friend/her daughter to speak to the midwife. She should be given a 'Bounty' pack by the midwife which has a little book in with details of all benefits etc she may be entitled to. She should be entitled to a £500 Sure Start maternity grant. Again, the midwife should give her the forms. She'll get tax credits and child benefit once the baby is here.0

They can now get a council flat (DD and DDBF)
They can also get housing/council tax benefit
Maybe income support OR JSA
Family allowance
Tax credits (maybe I am not sure when claiming JSA)
Hope this helps.0 -
They can now get a council flat (DD and DDBF)
...or the council may put them in a hostel or B&B if they are homeless (which it does not sound like they are)...they can certainly go on the housing list but some councils waits are years
does the boyfriend work - you say they want to get a place together so is he thinking of private rental? they may get some help with the rent but this will be based on one bedroom till baby arrives0 -
They can now get a council flat (DD and DDBF)
In some areas perhaps - in most they haven't a chance!
They can also get housing/council tax benefit
Not when they're living at home.
Maybe income support OR JSA
Neither's payable
Family allowance
Doesn't exist any more. CB payable after the baby's born.
Tax credits (maybe I am not sure when claiming JSA)
Hope this helps.
More helpful if the information was accurate!0 -
What tosh, what makes you believe that they will suddenly get a council flat when she is only jsut pregnant? Even if she was heavily pregnant or has the child they wont magically get the council house fairy to hand over a flat.
They cant get housing/council tax benefit because they dont have a house!
No child related benefits because, guess what, they dont have a chile yet!
No income support or JSA, we dont have a clue as to what the f e c k l e s s lad is doing, maybe you should read the posts and then give advice if you have any and not make things up as you go along.
At least we know what we're talking about!0 -
The boyfriend is not working but activelly looking and applying for everything he can.
