Bay - we took Imogen off her bottles at around 12 months - she's 14 months now. We just swapped her bottles for big Tommee Tippee cups (the non-spill ones which we took the valves out of with a knife!) She has water or milk in these and doesn't seem to mind. We also brought her evening bottle forward so she has supper at around 6.15pm (Hippabisc) plus some milk. She then has a bath and a story before bed - but all upstairs. She's taken to it really well.
In the morning we just give her a little milk in a cup on our bed before getting her dressed. This seems to bridge the gap between getting up and breakfast (which she has at MIL's on a work day). I reckon she takes around 14oz of milk from her cups morning and evening and has plenty of other dairy from cheese, yogurts, milk on cereal and in stuff we've made. HTH?

My DH had one recently. I can't tell you how terrible I felt seeing him going through all that pain afterwards - it seemed to hit his stomach muscles and he was doubled over for hours.
A little bit of reverse labour, I thought.
What surprised me more was that he didn't become 'sterile' straight away. Four months down the line, we are still having to worry about birth control  .
With a woman, sterilisation is instant isn't it, that's what you want when a man has it done, not to be worrying about taking extra care but if that's got to be done it's got to be done, just think of all the spontaneous fun you can have after
Re dummies. DS1 would never entertain one and DS2 is the same, if it's not got milk coming from it he doesn't want it which is fine by me, one less habit to break him out of in a couple of years timeIf everyone cared and nobody cried, if everyone loved and nobody lied, if everyone shared and swallowed their pride then we'd see the day when nobody died.

To be honest I have no idea about woman sterialisation, assume so, but could be wrong (as I was with mens sterilisation).
Just wish we could have done away with his 'quota' whilst I was pg (as you can't get pg when you are pg already) and I had a lot more interest then too ...:rotfl:0 -
I've been wondering how people get rid of bottles too. OH gives Alice 6oz EBM at 10pm and we've been trying to switch to a cup. We tried the tommee tippee first cup but the milk just came out too slowly so we bought the easiflow beaker (it was reduced in Sainsbury's) and cut the valve out. She'll take the first 4oz generally but he can never get her to take the last 2oz and always ends up putting it in the bottle.
One night I was still up when he was doing it and it was really funny because while he was puring the milk into the bottle, Alice grabbed the teat and started sucking away. :rotfl:

Mazcabs - how did you get on?
Wasn't too bad last night putting DS in big cot and own room. He went off fairly easily, wokeat 11.30 but settled pretty quickly. Then up at 1.30 for feed but woulnt go off til 2.45. Awake again at 5.30 when I gave in and had him in bed with us.
Only slept for an hour today in two naps do hoping for a better night tonight. May do a sleep feed as well to see if that helps. Do I actually wake DS up or just pick him up and give him bottle and hope he takes it will half asleep? Migh check Baby Whisperer book as sure I saw about it in there.Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0 -

Just pick babe up, pop bottle/boob in his mouth (it's quite instinctive) and off you go! The idea is not to wake them up - hence 'dream feed' - but babe may come to a bit. I used to rub Imogen's ears or feet to get her to suck properly :rotfl: Hope you got on okay. The other night doesn't sound too bad - apart from the 1.30am play time :eek:MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090
