Cheers Guys!
Still not made it out (yet!)
Have bathed - and changed DD...WAS going to feed her - but she's asleep (again!).
Plus, I forgot hubby put my car in the garage...by the time I get it out, she might be awake...
Here goes...0 -
Agree with all of the above, and would also add: be aware that when you take a baby out, there will be the occasional disaster - Natasha did an exploding nappy 20 miles from home (we were in the car), we changed her nappy, got her spare clothes out and she promptly did it again immediately. She ended up coming home naked except for a nappy, wrapped up cosily in a blanket, with my coat over her for extra warmth.
Since that day, I always have a little 'emergency pack' in my car - a travel pack of wipes, a nappy, a nappy sack and a cheap white babygrow. Oh, and a sachet of Calpol!
Just remember that if something goes wrong, providing it's not life threatening, you will have a funny story to tell for years to come!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
When Alice was smaller we tended to set off while she was sleeping so she slept on the way and then I'd feed her in the car and she'd be awake while we were out and then sleep on the way home. We have a permanent change bag set up with nappies (disposable and cloth), plastic pants, plastic bags for nappies, wipes, change mat, pot ('cause we ec), full change of clothes (which we've never actually used), hat, a soft toy and some muslins. We also keep a couple of disposable nappies, some wipes, a pot, a muslin, a toy and two blankets (was just one in the summer) in the car so that we could scrape by if we forgot the change bag.0

Well, we're back! And we survived!!!:rotfl:
No change needed...no feed...the assistants in Boots were dead helpful (and took my bags to the car)
PLUS the nappies were on offer!:D
Now need to feed before my boob explodes!:o

well done you!! was it scary out in the big wide world?
it'll be a doddle after this!0 -
MrsW82,
Great news on your first trip out as a mummy.
Our first trip was to our local baby cafe for our first "public" bf, I was a bit nuts though I walked 1.5 miles 19 days after a c-section! (I did get a lift home).
I've had a better day today, still a bit worried about work, but my family are helping me with it all - they keep ringing to check how I'm feeling.
What has cheered me up is that DH was due to work a late shift on Christmas Day and he's been stood down! Christmas plans are now in full swing! :j
Started and finished our Christmas shopping today - Selection boxes all round for the children no money for anything else this year - we don't buy for adults as there are too many of them.
Katie had a Christmas Party today and had great fun, she enjoyed the breadsticks off the buffet! She wore the outfit in my Avatar and was the cutest baby there.:D

Well done Mrs W! Glad you had a positive experience.
When Imogen was about 4 months I had an awful time trying to get a bus home and ended up crying on the phone to OH and made him come home early (made more embarrassing because I work with all his colleagues!). So glad kind people helped you out, that's what customer service should be!
Imogen's cut her first ever tooth!! :T :T I've just found a tooth chart to print off and put in her baby book. Mine has one so I wanted to do one for her. (It's here if you're interested http://www.anbesol.com/teething/chart.asp) I've copied it into Paint, got rid of the branding and just kept the teeth and average ages.
The tooth is her lower front one on the right (as you look at it) which, on average, they get at 6 months. She'll be one in 6 days ( ) on Boxing Day.
Tooth brushing will now start in earnest...
MDW - good for you spending what you can afford and not getting more into debt at this time of year. :money: Imogen has one main present and three things in her stocking as she's no idea this year. A friend of mine has just bought her LO some slippers as she knows the family will spoil him rotten! :money:MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
us too, kennedy has some bath toys, a wooden jigsaw and a stuffed toy and that's all we're buying her. she's only just had a birthday so she doesn't need loads of toys.0

We've just bought Alice a baby walker (of the push-along variety) and some rubber ducks for her stocking. We would have only got the baby walker but my brother gave her a stocking for Christmas last year so we felt we ought to use it.0

I feel ever so slightly guilty as poor Izzy has only got a handful of pressies, while Olivia has got a ton of stuff. We figured Iz doesn't know what's going on and is more likely to be interested in the paper and boxes anyway while for Olivia this is the first year that she has really got to grips with the whole writing her letter to santa, visiting him in his grotto type thing etc. They have also spent the last fortnight at school whipping them up into a frenzy of excitement!
I think I'm going to have a rummage through the toychest before christmas day and see if I can find some old toys of Olivia's that haven't been passed down yet. I know there's a little touch leap pad somewhere - if I can find some bits, would it be really naff to wrap them up for Izzy?!! Olivia's bound to notice but I'm sure I can explain that situation ok, perhaps they could be her own presents to her baby sister.
Lu - congrats on Imogen's first tooth. Both of mine were late teethers and I was so excited when the first ones appeared, both around a year old. Izzy now has 6 completely cut through the gum and 2 more about to. They have all come through very quickly after the first one a couple of months ago.
You say to her, "Show us your teeth" and she does this manic grin thing where she screws her eyes up and sticks her bottom jaw in front of the top one. It is really bizarre but it has us in stitches every time - which of course makes her do it all the more!0
