i have tried kennedy on so many cups and breakers and i have spent a small fortune! then we went out shopping on monday and the cafe we went to served a fruit shoot with the kids menu, i normally only let her have water, but as a treat i let her drink it, she drank the lot and didn't spill any. so now i'm giving her water from this bottle.
she managed to unscrew the tops off the tommee tipee cups, she can't get anything from a anyway upcup and she's not fussed about the nuby cups.

Heather, Asda have some little bottles of water in very similar bottles to the Fruit Shoot ones if you ever need a replacement - I've heard that you shouldn't refill plastic bottles too many times because over time the plastic breaks down....but I have no idea if that is just an old wives tale or not! :o

I think the first few weeks of breastfeeding are by far the worst
I agree - it was more than a month before I could imagine myself even managing for four months.

I bought some of those Lilypadz breast pads as I keep waking up soaked in the morning with baby sleeping through. Not getting on very well with them yet though! Don't find that they stick to my skin as they're supposed to do so an expensive mistake so far! :o Has anybody else tried them? Any tips?!
I bought some of these as my friend said she had found them really good but I didn't get on with them as I found them a bit faffy. I think if they're wet they don't stick so maybe there's so much milk around that they won't stick?
  • Is anyone else thinking of anymore? I'll have just turned 33 when this one is born and I was 31 going on 32 when Jack was born. DH was 37 and will be 38 when the arrival comes. I don't think we are old parents but not young either.

Hi Bailey, hope you are feeling brighter today x

I'm already thinking of having another!!! :D But it keeps playing on my mind that we only have a 2 bedroom house and I really love my home...

I'm 34 (should have been a first time Mum at 33 but Poppy arrived 3 days after my birthday  ) and DH is 33 so we shall see what Mother Nature has instore for us.

    Hi all

Many thanks for your replies re: weaning. I decided to bite the bullet and try a bit of baby rice. He wasn't so keen yesterday and I followed the instructions of one tablespoon of rice to 4 liquid which was way too much for first time weaning, so today I tried one teaspoon to 4 liquid which was spot on and he gobbled every mouth full. I topped him up with booby milk and he has gone down about 7.20pm. He was a much more content baby today, not sure if thats as I has a glass of wine and lemonade last night at the pre school pamper evening or just as he is happier today. He went 5 hours in between feeds today which was before he had his rice.

Can anyone advise on how quickly I should introduce him to two then three meals a day?

Re: BF. I am quite enjoying BF as I know this will be my last baby and I am cherishing this time with him, however as I have said before I have found it difficult starting with each baby and have often wished I was more prepared to do more bottle feeds. If truth be told I am tight as anything and buying milk every week would kill me. Also I really want lil man to be dependant on me in some strange way because once I frinish feeding him that's it. Although I know I won't go on for years as once they get teeth it becomes difficult and they soon become distracted by everything else around them. I quite like that I get extra points at Weight watchers for BF, obviously that will reduce now I am introducing food.

I hope that you are all keeping well.

September baby, belated congratulations, I remember you from the pregnancy thread. Fab name (DD1 is Poppy too).

Re: plastic bottles, I have too heard not to re-use pre filled ones. I had terrible time with both girls and spent fortune on bottles and teats. I am going to try Hayden on sippy cup soon for his water and see how he goes with that.

Anyway I gabbled on for far too long and really should be making bags (Christmas presents).

Take it easy and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

hi, i keep trying to chcnk this thread but then days become weeks......and i lost track!
anyway - hi to septemberbaby, my mse pregnancy buddy! how ru? Phoebe is 9 weeks now and the time has just flown by
i am still breatfeeding - and hoping to be doing the NCT breastfeeding counsellor/support training - and things are good. phoebe slept from 8pm - 5am last night and ohmygod i wanted to shout it from the rooftops! fingers crossed it happens again
reading about home visits, my MW came three times (i had LOADS of stitches aparently)
HV came twice and havent seen her since. told me to go to clinic where there is only usually a nursery nurse - which i dont think is very good.
luckily we dont need much input but if we did im sure it wouldnt be too easy tracking some one down.
so, whats everyone upto at the weekend. we are going to try and do some xmas shopping tomorrow i cant wait to get it all done

Hi Emma! Lovely to hear from you and so glad that you and Phoebe are doing well. Poppy slept from midnight to 8.30am last night so there must be something in the air! :rotfl: .

After seeing my HV for the second time on Thurs, I think thats it for the home visits as she has told me to drop in at the clinic from now on. Scarey to think I'm now 'left on my own' to get on with things like a 'real mummy'!!!

I stayed in today as we had two sets of visitors so we will be out and about shopping tomorrow. My aim is to get all the xmas gifts bought and wrapped before 1 Dec!

Hi Fac, the Jen's have invaded :rotfl: ....now if you tell me you were born in 1973 I really will be freaked :D (sorry if I'm adding years on you :p ).

The time really does zoom by and when I look at the tiny babygroes I can't quite believe that Poppy fitted into them! She is 12lb & 1/2oz and I only realised today that size 1 nappies are only until 11lb! I'm a bad mum already! :o

  • :D only adding a little bit which I think mothering is doing anyway!

Your picture of Poppy made me realise how big they get so quickly as she looks so tall in the moses basket - can't believe Elliot will outgrow his soon(ish), he just seemed so small at first.

I had him weighed at the baby clinic this week and he is 10lb 1oz  he put on over a pound in a week! So yeah that's when I thought the newborn nappies are on a time limit, luckily I don't have too much stock ;)
