i managed some, but not quite all of todays jobs, but still pleased with myself!
hoovered living room, after thinking 'there's nothing down my sofa, i'm sure' i discovered a pair of scissors, 5p, hair grips, a lot of dirt, and an unclaimed £1 winning scratchcard! (which must have been OHs as i don't ever do the lottery!)
pulled other sofa out and got rid of loads of dried up leaves that had fallen off a plant on the windowsill
just finished gorgeous sausage casserole (made in SC earlier, another portion ready for tomorrow)
rubbish put out and 3 bags for oxfam in car boot
WM currently on, DW stacked for E7 switch on
stupidly put off important call (to landlord about badly sticking door), and unfortunately when i went out the door stuck completely, resulting in 3 hours of being stuck out, with door not locked but not openable, and having to call landlord, who couldn't fix it and called locksmith! i missed weightwatchers as a result
didn't do paperwork, timesheet, or last month's expenses which was on list.
bedroom still on list for deep clean!
thanks for the company, fellow flybabies
currently watching TV, surfing and just chilling out in my nice clean lounge with candles burningMum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Managed to get everything done that was planned today.
Dusting and hoovering, cleaned bathroom and toilets and caught up with all my paperwork. Batched cooked enough bolognese for dinner tonight, a lasagne and a batch of bolognese for the freezer.
I still have some hot spots, but not as many as last week!!!! Plan to tackle some more of these tomorrow, along with whatever moggins next list is.0 -

(Somewhere I fit in marking and planning obviously!) that can take me all of sunday in itself as we were in special measures and under huge pressure to perform exciting lessons
I find my key activities that I do nightly and make me feel more organised and just less cluttered are: washing up, cleaning my kitchen surfaces, putting any washing in, tidying living room and organising paperwork into piles (e.g. to be filed/taken to school/recycled blah blah) i was working 6am to midnight every day before i ended up being off sick with stress, and then got pregnant
At school I try to fly too! Every night before I leave my key acytivities are:
I make sure my classroom surfaces are ALL clear (a challenge in itself), I tidy my desk (it really helps to come in and see things tidy to start the day!) i was acting head of department, and my desk became a dumping ground where everybody left things for me to look at, I write the next days date on the board (just one of those things that seems easier to do) and I lay out the activities for the first sessionyou haven't met my cleaner, who just bins everything. I also file all my resources at the end of the week into subject folders with the planning they relate to. If I don't use it next year I plan to throw it away. The "just in case" principle does not work in my mind! Ha! i get different ability levels each year so i daren't throw anything
It soon becomes a routine and really saves time. In September I was working 7.30 - 6. Since October half term I've worked 7.45 - 5.00. And all that extra time I can be home, getting tidy and then fed so I get time to relax! well done, this is what i am aiming to achieve so i can work at school till then and then pick up charlie from nursery and have the evening off

Some interesting thoughts here. Are you primary or secondary? And do you have any management responsibility, because it was when i took that on that i lost control of the house and my free time.

Michelle!
Eek!
I'm an NQT so no as yet have no responsibilities other than getting the hang of this job! I teach year 1, but am junior qualified so not an ideal situation. I am trying hard to keep on top of things and get into good routines but I have witnessed how hard it is for everyone to manage under the extra stress and responsibilities that quickly pile up.
I'm lucky that my school is very structured with planning and ALL medium term plans are in place and I work with the other yr 1 teacher in PPA time and MOST planning gets done then. I get NQT time so in total 20% non teaching time which helps.
Our assistant head has just come back after maternity and her daughter is in the nursery based at the school. I know today though she was expected to be in a senior management meeting until gone 6 so I wonder how she manages?
I have just joined teaching after 6 years in the manufacturing industry and feel that gave me a good grounding in organisation - clear desk policy etc.
Keep your chin up as it sounds like you're working hard where you are with baby! pm me if you want to chat so we don't bore too many people with our teacher chat. :rotfl:Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...0 -
ooh - made a lovely dinner of stir fried onion, garlic, yellow pepper and leek, with a can of condensed chicken soup and served with rice. (portion in the fridge for my lunch tomorrow, as eating better today made me feel more energetic.)
My SC is now on a low setting with a chicken, potato and leek soup, which will be our tomorrow nights meal.
DH put baby to bed for me and washed up, while i had a bath, and got on here.
Just need to do a last few bits now tonight and then bed.

oh michelle you poor thing, it sounds like you are very dedicated - your school are fortunate to have you. and you loumac. I'm not teaching at mo - gave up 3 years ago but just starting to do a couple a days month supply. It is an all consuming job so you have to watch it - loumac your school sounds like they have it sorted re planning.
is there a list yet? or have i not refreshed?
edit to say - don't want to hassle you moggins as grateful for the list and the mass impact it is having on my life - more time to play with children and less time trying to sort out dire mess that was my kitchen0 -

Dining room should still be nice from last weeks clean so today is a combination of dining room and kitchen.
Clean/polish dining room table. Find nice tablecloth to protect shiny table with. Hoover dining room, dust and polish any other furniture in there.
Kitchen - empty worktops and clean thoroughly using a drop of bleach if necessary. Wipe down all cupboard fronts, remove drawer from washing machine, leave to soak in hot water for 10 minutes while cleaning the top of the cooker off, wash drawer, wipe down front of all white goods.
Check fridge for any nasties and transfer all things that need to be used quickly to either one shelf or the front of the fridge. Wipe out salad drawer and line with kitchen towel.
Clean windowsill, sort out one cupboard and mop/hoover floor.
Tackle any paperwork and one hotspotOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things
