I will give a weekend up date as I chickened out yesterday as I didn't have very much to add apart from managing dailies - thanks lil-me i have had a look at the website you mentioned and hope to but something together after I have been on here.
I have finished the girls playroom and this has made their bedrooms tidier but i have not given their rooms a good clean - I think I will make the most of them being 8 and 4 after reading some of the posts here!
DW both days, WM 6 times over weekend - all washing dried, ironed and put away, bathroom wiped down and kitchen sink still shining, lounge hoovered and polished, OH as I type is ironing is shirts I threaten to write here that he had refused to do them which spurred him into action. Meals for week sorted and shopping done, two batches of soup made and in freezer and two steak pies.
Moggins as I live in a bungalow and I hadn't yet given the halls a good clean i did both and managed to move on several cobwebs (least said the better)
Feel quite pleased with my first week of flying and although my organisation needs to be worked on I feel happier about the state of my house than i have in a very long time.

Is anyone finding that they are constantly whisking stuff into the rightful place that other family members have left out, so the rooms remain tidy? Very tempted to stick labels on things like the ketchup bottle saying I belong in the fridge after use and on the rinse aid saying I live under the sink NOT on the kitchen work-tops:rotfl:

DH did just say though if I'd straighten the living room, he'd put both kids to bed :j and when he comes in from his mates, he'll finish off ironing (DH does all our ironing, he made the mistake of telling me when we were dating that he found it therapeutic, I told him I found it hateful:D ) and before you all envy me, the downside is if we ever argue about house being a tip he always says "but I do all the ironing" (yes, so :p )

    lil-me-What are PECS cards?

not had a too bad weekend dd whos 14 changed her bedding and put clean back on plus tidied and hoovered her room i almost fainted as she never ever does her room her idea of putting clothes away that i'v just ironed is usually to shove them down the side of the bed or behind her wardrobe i keep trying to get it in her head that it must take her longer to hide her stuff then it would to just put it all in the right places. her 9yr brother has been keeping her room tidish for extra pocket money but she did it her self.she also did a few jobs downstairs while i was out all with out asking wonder what shes up to .

WOW, ive scared myself with how much ive managed to do on a Sunday - weve all had baths and hair washes too!!!
All ready for tomorrows challenge now - its getting easier and quicker to do each week!!!!
  • Hello all,

Haven't really been able to post, what with computer failure, work and the like. Glad to see you're all doing well! Today DH and I tackled the dining room - or as it was becoming the 'dumping ground'. I have to say it now looks lovely and what a change it made to sit round the table and eat like a proper family!

Am off for a few days now so will start the house and then am off for more days end of jan/early feb so my goal is to have a perfect home by the middle of feb...little by little I will get there.

    Hugs to you all.....

Well I have done not a lot today. Another bad night with the littles, DD1 ended up in our bed at 10pm and then was restless most of the night wanting to get up at 5.30am. So after 4 nights of broken sleep and being woken at 5am (instead of the usual 6am). Does anyone know how you make a 4 year old either sleep all night or wake up at a normal time instead of blooming 6am (at the latest)???? After 4 years of it I have had enough.

Anyway back to topic. House looks pretty good though, just the kitchen to tidy before an early night. Ironing can wait until tomorrow.

Just wondered what tomorrows tasks were going to be but doubt I will be able to stay up long enough to find out.

    Night all

    spendless,
I know exactly what you mean!! Especially my DD1 who eats something and leaves the plate, wrapper where she sits. (she was taught manners and to put things in the bin when she was little) She leaves things out of the fridge, milk, ketchup bottle is a favourite here too and if I say something I get an eyeroll and a sigh followed by a stomping. Nice, teenagers..NOT

Would it work putting a label on it: "I live in the fridge" I will maybe do that for a laugh this week, see what happens.

Waiting for the Moggins list now... What will it be?

We eventually took the hit with our three year old and took her back to bed every night took two weeks but eventually she learnt that she wasn't getting in and gave up, those two weeks were very hard but looking back it was worth it.

We are bad parents and just ignored ours! Once they were able to sleep through, we didn't get up to them unless they really cried hard. Biggest one has a stairgate across her room door which we close when she goes to bed otherwise she won't stay in there, we open it when we go to bed so she can go to the toilet. I also take her to the loo before I go to bed and she does it on command! Both sprogs are brilliant and sleep through until about 8am.

I would go along with the suggestion of putting her back to bed for as long as it takes for her to get the message. Also, make sure she gets some fresh air and exercise every day to wear her out (when it's not blowing a gale!).

I know this doesn't really help you, Shell, but it might help other new parents. You're being cruel to be kind! If you're shattered, you can't give your child your best.
You only get one go at life, so grab it where it hurts, shake it hard and get everything out of it you can!
